Forest Game

Was having a think this morning back to the Forest game, it just felt tense, then when Enda popped that 2nd in the weight of everyone just dropped off, the previous weeks result against Millwall was put to bed and the ground knew that Leeds had to match our result at least which created some breathing space.

I think the result was a real catalyst to a performance we haven't seen for a few weeks against Hull, gone were the nerves and back was the swagger and confidence we've shown through the season. That result against Forest was hugely important in my opinion and it's really hurt Leeds too, for once they've had the pressure of playing 2nd and it's broken them.

Whilst we could utterly f**k it up against Ipswich in a way that only SUFC could, I feel like we'll go into that game confident and play our usual game. An early goal and we're on our way but we need to be patient and not get the jitters if we go into the final 20 mins level. The core of this team have done it and handle it before and the others drafted in have done it too. Nervous and excited for Saturday.

The Forest win has been a momentum swinger for us and Leeds and we might forget just how important it was come the end of all of this.

 

[Stretch]

It was a huge result and as you say, switched the pressure back onto Leeds just when many thought they had the decisive advantage, but personally I never thought they would exploit it.

However I think that beating Leeds on their own turf was the real turning point this season, as it properly rattled them and showed that they couldn't cope with the big occasion. Had they won that day they would have put clear daylight between us, but despite huffing and puffing they just didn't have it in them.

I had thought many times up until that point that they were not a tough bunch mentally, and they really did implode that day, in a far more dramatic way than we ever have under Wilder.

Coming away from Bellend Road I really believed that we would would beat them to automatic, and nothing that happened since [including Millwall] caused me to change that view.
