...I wouldn't usually start another thread in its own right about yesterday, but the atmosphere was back to its electric, hostile best and it spurred me on to give my twopenn'orth. I just wanted to say...

Get the f*ck in! That is a result I didn't expect before kick off but was so glad that we got! They and Villa were the most improved sides since we last played them, they can be the most dynamic going forward and so I wasn't overly looking forward to it. A few points to add:
  • First off, Keogh is a full weight dickhead and needs to grow up. That win's for you pal.
  • We still continue to overplay at times. I don't want us to get into the old fashioned "GERRIT FORRUD YOONITED" mentality/bollocks, because that's still nonsense but there are times when we over play in the corners and could do well to whip it in. Triangles in the corners worked in League One because we were accurate but incisive with our moves, it's almost like we overthink it at the moment looking for the perfect opening.
  • For all their hot air and bollocks from Lampard at their place and their cocky shitehouse squad yesterday, we were the better team and in the second half, easily so.
  • Like with our League One days, when you find yourself a comfortable goal or two in front, you then get into the realms of game management and it's not often this season we've had that opportunity. Yesterday shows that when we've got ourselves into that position we are more than capable at managing the game sensibly, we have a number of pros fully adept to do so: Shape, Clarke, Norwood, Egan, O'Connell and Bash, Fleck. If January reinforcements can put us in that position more often, we will really benefit. We needed that position yesterday though as they had an extra gear to attack on the counter that we don't.
  • That free kick was fantastic but the fact remains that it was given after what should have been a penalty at the other end. The whole farce severely unjust and I could sense then that something was coming, that we'd hit back.
  • Their centre halves trying to hammer down Hendo was ridiculous. I enjoyed seeing their side despair a little and have their heads in their hands when we scored two more.
  • George and Enda back to decent form, Hendo well and truly up for it - that kneeslide when Billy scored was class...
  • Leon looked good at points, rusty at others, but it will be a real bonus having him fit again. He offers something different and is quality. He will be a great option to have back.
For all their cockiness and gamesmanship and lack of professionalism, whilst you always want to win, I'm particularly glad we won that to wipe the smug smiles off their faces.

Oh and FYI, when you bounce, we may be likely to score. Evidence at the Sty and twice yesterday backs this up. So thanks for that!

UTB! I enjoyed the Boxing Day ale more after that!

Thing about our fans is, as much as they've come to enjoy the quality of the football we play under Wilder, nothing gets them going more than the sight of a scrap. When they started shoving Deano, our fans got pumping and, to be fair, so did the players. Felt like Derby started a fight they couldn't win.

Hope Blackburn isn't after the Lord Mayors show. Nice to see United respond, for once, to a large crowd

Hendos’ passion is great for the fans but I don’t like anyone who does the kneeslide celebration, injuries will occur from it and we don’t want that when it’s completely avoidable.

Agree about Keogh, tried the "old pro" routine. Looks a reyt wazzock

Has anyone ever been injured from a kneeslide in the history of football?

Not unless it's on astroturf

Players can be daft though, I once saw a player run to the corner flag, put it under his chin and wave his hands at the crowd, he removed the flag from under his chin a millisecond before one of his teammates jumped on him

Great post Kozzy , however Enda back to decent form ?
He's been one of our most consistent this season mate

Totally agree on George great to have the old baldock back ,if he could just cross a ball , McCabe be licking his lips with a 10-12 million sale on him

Merry Christmas' fellow blades great win

Oh absolutely, mate. A fluff up on wording on my part, I totally agree. One of the season...

Yes they have but irrespective of that it might not be a direct result of the kneeslide, it puts unnecessary strain on your knees when they take enough hammer as it is. One of the most common injuries are in the knees or around them so why put unnecessary strain on them?

What next? No arm raising to ease strain on the shoulders?

I thought that our front 3 were good yesterday, especially in the second half. When Leon came on, we thought he might occupy the Derby County defence.
A couple of things we noticed about the visitors technical area. Lampard would have a moan at the Fourth Official, he would then step away and another member of the coaching staff would pop out for a moan, he would disappear and then a third member of staff would appear for another moan.
I thought Keogh sailed close to the wind near the end. The Blades had a free kick on our left, eventually the ref booked one of their lads, but only after Keogh had seemed to argue and badmouth the ref for quite some time. When the ref eventually called the player over, we thought it would be Keogh.

Agreed. Should've been off!

:D

If you can’t see what I’m talking about then don’t come back with such utter bollocks. The players don’t hardly use their arms or shoulders so what has that got to do with anything? The players use the knees all the time. Robben, Van Persie to name a few had persistent knee injuries from memory and they used to do that celebration on quite a few occasions, how do you know that the knee sliding didn’t contribute to it?

By all means let them carry on doing it but it just seems a daft celebration to me especially when there’s all sorts of other ones they can do.

Oh let the lad slide, it’s all part of the theatre and spectacle of the game. He must practice that knee slide because whenever I’ve tried in on Sunday league mud baths. I always came a cropper.

Yeah it is and each to their own, I just think that celebration is a recipe for disaster especially on these new fandangled pitches.

Egan quite visibly gets whacked in the head as he joins Clarke’s celebrations to be fair. I’m also absolutely certain that if I attempted that I’d definitely injure myself.

They wound us up big time.

Billy doing the universal fat gesture to their fans.
Then ALLEGEDLY elbowing their sub as he celebrated.
Egan steaming into the back of the net during the melee and my personal favourite..
Deano bouncing up and down to the away fans.

Don't wind us up, we aren't a nasty side but front to back we aren't push overs anymore!!
