A Sheffield team... Opening soundbyte sees the manager quoted with some straw-clutching refusal to admit how bad they are (IF we'd scored the first goal today, we'd have won...) ...7 men in the box as a free header sails in.... flappy, nightmare goalie saved on the line by a defender, then a contentiously played deadball chance (most enjoyable foul-throw I've seen in years haha) converted to a goal and an easy victory...

sounds like us last season.... but it wasnt US :D

Steve Claridge is tending on twitter; there's some degree of hatred for his level of boredom. Is he really that bad?

I dont mind the guy generally... but he is a tad monotone, Stephen Hawking has more expression in his voice than Claridge

I hate Claridge and Rosenior, neither are made for TV. Manesh isnt really good either. They should just add half hour to MOTD, have a featured game from Npower league then a goals round up

the football league show is nothing short of crap, not very objective, not like these people seem to really know anything about the clubs or are even intrested in anything other than thier pay packets.
they should really do a regional version rather than lump all 3 football leagues into one dreary show.

Does anyone actually watch the whole thing? It's made for Sky+, just to see the goals you're interested in.

I video it and watch it on Sunday morning. Then fast forward until I see the Blades.

That way I don't have to listen to the presenters.

What have we done so wrong...............................

Why is it we are always ignored. Football league show last night,on there review of league 1,those 2 twats said, charlton and tranmere got off to a cracking start 2 wins out of 2 etc. Said fuck all about us an our prospects. Its always been the same.even in sheffield for those old enough to remember the star had a massive campaign when the pigs looked like getting relegated, called save our owls. Fuck all for us.theres been numerous occations when weve been ignored,it makes me really fucking angry,is it just me,or do other blades feel the same way.

Just the general SKY, BBC, general media bias towards so called 'big clubs' and those based in the south (Tranmere aside !). It's obvious that the BBC for example are going to cover every minute of every WHam game this season as they did with Newcastle the season before last. It wasn't a great win for Bolton yesterday it was a bad loss for QPR, it wasn't a great point for Sunderland at Anfield, it was a disappointing result for Liverpool etc etc

Back to your point, it doesn't bother me particularly if we bumble along picking up the wins unnnoticed and they continue to report on Wendy's struggles :)

They did go into our game more last Saturday but as JC said, I'm happy to be invisible as long as we're doing the right thing.

Let them focus on the MASSIVE club in mid-table if they wanna :D

'The Football League Show' is just like The Stir. Amateurish, biased crap that less and less people bother with. (hear The Green 'Un has gone up to a quid...)

You say 'for those old enough to remember...' so you must know that it will never change. Sheffield, after all, is the home of all those political heavyweights such as Joe Ashton, Clive Betts, Hattersley and The Stir's own proof-reader, David Blunkett. Pigs and wankers all.

I'm not a fan of the Football League show. The choice of featured games is generally poor and ill thought out. I record it and fast forwards to when the Blades' goals come on (that 30 second snippet they kindly allow us).

A much better solution would be a regional programme on a Sunday as was the case in the past.

The regional show is still going. Late Kick Off. Or am I missing something?

I usually watch it but it's dire. Sky's coverage is a lot, lot better. Much prefer Goals on Sunday

I was thinking that.

I've changed my view of Goals On Sunday and now hope that the producer has a shit and fall backwards now

Not much use for those of us who don't live in the region our team plays in.

If you live close to your team's home ground, then you can realistically go to a lot more games. The benefit of programme is particularly for those who live too far way to do so - at least we get to see the goals, even though we can't go to a lot of games.

Just record it and watch the bits you want, like everyone else.

At least this year they seem to have done away with the bit where they read out some spectacularly boring messages from viewers. That's one less section to fast-forward through....

For all its drawbacks its still the only place you can guarantee to see your goals free to air on a Saturday night (or early Sunday morning). Don't give a rats about who presents it so long as I get the pictures of the Blades scoring and winning to make my evening.

heh.. well i fell asleep at the end of motd.. luckily i had it on sky+ .. got up next morning and managed to delete it by accident whilst 'tidying up'.. what a numpty :)

Just watched the clip of the game on the BBC website. The commentator says TWICE that Slew was looking for his first goal for United and, when he does score, says it is a moment he will never forget.

I mean it would hardly take hours of research to find out he has already scored 2 goals for United.

Oh dear....

It would probably end up being online to view anyway, such as Look North is.

Regional would be better in the sense it could feature clubs in more depth (although I'd assume Leeds would get most of the limelight) and you'd hope with better quality and more informed presenters who actually have an idea about each of the local sides.

After the Hartlepool win the BBC Website said it was 4-3 on penalites. Obviously their reporter struggles to count up to five.

I just watched that too. At least you get more coverage than appears on The Football League Show. 4 minutes highlights on Blades Player, 2 minutes highlights on BBC website. Not great quality, but can you imagine getting this much access 20 or even 10 years ago for a 3rd division match?

The goals were also shown on SSN about 7pm-ish on the Saturday following the game. Depends how quickly each club get the content to Sky I suppose.

It's shit. If it wasn't on at midnight I'd think it was for teenagers. It's like the BBC only take the top division seriously. Stupid, infantile intro featuring fans juggling balls around. The studio is ridiculous. What's the catwalk / balcony all about. Asking viewers to send in their texts is a waste of time and insults our intelligence. Claridge is OK as a summariser, the rest are dire. Manish comes in his pants every time Leicester City are mentioned. Total crap. MOTD has a winning formula. Why change it? Just have five featured games and an extended round up.
