Anyone notice we had flat 3 in midfield again and just offered nearly fuck all up top to help the two attackers. Just as I thought we were turning a new corner and decided to play Sander more attacking.

The bloke terrifies defenders when he’s running at them, he’s fucking wasted on the edge of our damn box 99% of the game.

For long periods of the second half today, Norwood was the most advanced of the trio. Bit of a curates egg of a midfield performance. Crying out for a Besic, Bissouma or Rhodri type performer in there to break their momentum and keep things simple.

The same SB that appeared on the edge of their box and scored ?
We cannot play exactly the same away from home as at BL as the oppositions will play differently when in front of their own fans. We have to adapt and do so.
We scored twice today so the problem did not seem to be in midfield nor up front.

The problem is we’ve just lost a very talented lad called MGW who would drop short to link up play , then play off the defenders shoulder & had a very rare talent in being able to run at & beat a defender . Who was playing in front & linking in with these 3 .
We sign Reda Khadra a very similar player in the ‘Duffy Role’ a the manager would rather play stick rather than twist .
I’m not abvocating wholesale changes but FFS it’s their for all to see , he is being far to loyal to some of the old guard & it will be our undoing

I'm sure Hecky brought in all these new signings because he wanted to stick them on the bench and see the fume it caused. It's been 3 games, they'll play.

You also seem to have forgotten that we have a very talented lad called Iliman Ndiaye who didn't play in the home game last year

Playing 5 at the back with 2 WBs who can't get up the pitch is already sacrificing one attacking body.
If you then play Norwood & Fleck in mf , there is no wonder our transition occurs at snails pace.
The only 3 to worry the opposition are Berge , Ndiaye & striker , which means we lack any speed of penetration through the midfield lines.
To seize the initiative , we desperately need quicker thought & movement in the middle.
Get Khadra , Doyle & McAtee in and let's play on the front foot.

You,l also notice I heaped praise on on a very talented player called Illiman Ndiaye in the My Take thread and regularly do so wind your neck in .. I’m commenting on the decision of him playing safe today with the fkg abundance of talent on the bench & the spaces appearing g all over the place as they threw the dice re the midfield .. sorry pal you you might not like it but his substitutions today were poor .. also Ndiaye & MGW played with this midfield 3 behind them last season last season and were minus the one I said .. so what’s your point exactly ?

Against Boro at home we beat them 4-1 in one of our best performances of the season with a flat 3 of Fleck/Norwood/Berge which went to Hourihane/Norwood/Berge when Fleck was injured and a front 2 of Sharp/MGW. Ndiaye didn't play that game so that's why I bring him up when you're talking about the loss of MGW. Point is that flat 3 doesn't equal bad performance. It's not like today was that bad anyway, we drew the game

I really liked Mo Besic. The version of Besic we had a few years ago would be great for us now.
Just googled to see where he is, only 29 and back in the Hungarian league.

Not sure we need Besic, we need a box to box midfielder who can attack and defend and get all around the pitch. Is that Doyle? Could it be Macatee? I'm sure they are here for a reason. Fuck all this they arent ready...Fleck is past it and is only 'ready' one in five games so get them blooded and let's go for it.

I think we can look forward to Berge, Doyle, Macatee and Orblaster getting game time in midfield this season ……. eventually.
Norwood is hanging in there at the moment, almost doing enough to justify selection ……….

Given you all have your full compliment of coaching badges, and have managed at championship level, even taken a team to the play offs, I see your advice as invaluable. Hecky is a fool not taking it onboard.
Get shut.

I've noticed he does that at times when we are pressing. I think it's mainly to help out Berge and Fleck who have a lot of ground to cover and let them have a breather as Norwood tries to prevent them from playing through midfield.

I noticed we had a flat mid 3 again. Not sure why, other than we keep winning(just), as it doesn't help us dominate for long periods of the game. It seems to suit Norwood these days and somewhat McAtee/Doyle but certainly not Berge. If we persist with this formation than Berge is a square peg in the round hole. He has quality, no doubt, but it's not working for him. Shame but maybe we get what we can and bring in a "round peg"? Otherwise we are playing with a two man midfield for most of the game.

Hecky mentioned something about changing the midfield up because of Hulls shape in his post match interview
