Quite how he's an award winning sports writer is beyond me. Talentless hack with an axe to grind. Given his size, probably frustrated that the only sport he could participate in is sumo. Or darts, I guess.

I left a comment, doubt it will get printed though, as it's arguing against what he has to say.

my last comment pointing out errors in his "facts" was removed never to return.

I've also left a comment but they're probably wading through them trying to find a supportive comment first. At least Jeff from Warrington has his on there for the moment.

He's ranted about this Tim Howard transfer so long you can almost imagine his bosses reading it with their hands on their head, looking at each other and saying "Look, you're gonna have to have a word with him"

I would liken it to the fact that all red-top newspapers print the term "Newspaper of the year" beneath the logo; by not stating exactly which award he won i would take it with a pinch of salt.

I once won an egg and spoon race and so shall now on be referred to as an 'award winning' web developer.

I had a feeling you lot would all disparage this article.

my last comment pointing out errors in his "facts" was removed never to return.

What are the errors exactly? Reading the article, I thought it was an excellent piece of journalism. Many quotes, and little if any in the way of conjecture. The facts are, Kabba was unable to play in a game for Watford on the say so of Sheff Utd. End of. Campaign for fairness eh?

I actually found that article quite refreshing. Given the amount of rubbish that has constantly been printed about West Ham over the past few months (Carlos Tevez was inelligible, etc), it was nice to see someone actually write an article from the other point of view, and not just pandering to the status quo amongst this country's *cough* distinguished hacks.

It's just a shame that it has taken a West Ham fan to write it.

I never said it was from this piece.

I personally think his last few pieces have been nothing short of biased mudslinging with little factual evidence.

yeah but at end of day were are northen club aint we so were gonna get fuck all in this hearing

The journo's that work for all red-top papers are encouraged to write sensationalit peices that will evoke a reaction and ultimately lead to more people reading due to word of mouth publicity ("did you read what that idiot Martin Samuels wrote last week?").

I doubt if he believes half of what he writes and i personally couldn't care less what his opinions are.

Jeff's comment seems to have disappeared now. Perhaps criticism of articles is not allowed.

He also wrote this....

"The first thing any follower of West Ham United should admit is that it was not fair. There will be no glee and no gloating here, so supporters of Wigan Athletic, Sheffield United and Fulham can read on without risk of hypertension.

The club’s representatives lied and no mitigation outweighs that. Carlos Tevez, the West Ham player of the year, brought the club points that should have been taken away."

I suppose you agree with this too??

Of course I don't. I didn't realise I was expected to agree with everything he wrote just because of one decent article.

I think mostly I'm just glad to see an article from a journalist that for once isn't lambasting West Ham, and instead turning the tables on Saint McCabe.

Don't worry I never expected you to agree.

Like no matter what is said in these threads, we are not going to agree on much apart from the PL needs sorting out big time.

I don't think the West Ham fans know that before these shenanigans... Martin Samuel has had a go at the Blades before...

THIS came about after what happened at Reading... seemingly pandering to the southern club.

Leading to THIS response from us...

As much as you West Ham fans don't like the press you're getting at the moment, you have to appreciate that we aren't too sympathetic... we've been getting it for years anyway.

I think Martin Samual is totally unprofessional in his comments. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, fair enough but as he is a journalist in a national newspaper which is read by supporters from all over the country then he should at least take that into consideration and offer at least one piece of balance to make it a decent arguement. All he has done has used his 'power' to express his opinions, I suppose no-one else is going to listen to fat bearded bloke talking rubbish so then again...

so if kabba was ineligible to play for 1 game.

Tevez was doing that for most of the season if not all.

Also the fat "geeza" was stating about the legal stuff on the bottom of the websites etc....

didnt the west ham website mention the signing of tevez and mascherano.

and now its a loan deal now.

Quite rightly too;) To be fair, the attack in the Reading article was aimed firmly at Warnock - the club itself barely gets a mention. If anything it was "guilt by association". How many of you think that Bryan Robson will ever get that sort of press? The days of players going out to hurt each other has mostly been left behind, we've all had them in the past. Thankfully Roy keane never played under Warnock, could you imagine it? The leg-breaker with a manager who shouts break his legs hoping his players know he don't really mean it. As for Samuel's write-up on the West Ham incident, his bias didn't stop him callin it as he saw it, when most supporters were keeping schtum he was (incorrectly!) critical of the premier league for not deducting points. So now his sights are back on Sheffield utd, or more correctly Kevin McCabe. The more intelligent posters will notice the criticism is not of the club themselves but of McCabe, the fight for fairness and the hypocrisy of the whole situation. Mary Whitehouse, the old tv campaigner, supposedly had the morals of the nation at heart, trying to keep sex, drugs and anything she didn't like off the box. If it turned out that that Whitehouse was also the name of her favourite magazine her arguements would no longer look valid. And this appears the case with McCabe sitting in a glasshouse, throwing stones.

Incidently, Martin Samuel actually got the NOTW story from members of one of the West Ham forums only last week, I'm sure had he been aware of it sooner it would have featured when he lambasted Man Utd for the same alleged offence

That is the biggest load of crap I've ever heard.

To compare McCabe who has a duty to a PLC with Mary Whitehouse???

I've never heard anything so stupid.

:D :D :D

Not a very good reporter if he wasn't aware of it is he??

It was all over the web when it happened.

But perhaps it was the wrong time of year?

"with a manager who shouts break his legs"

i thought he was referring to the challenge sidwell made on monty which was late and high.

No don't let the truth ruin a good story!

Indeed;

Warnock’s response in The Sun was startling. “I must have said that a hundred times in my career,” he said. “You say things like that in the heat of the moment, you don’t mean it"

fair enough the sun is hardly the greatest source but are you suggesting that colin never said this? Surely he'd have taken action over such a libleous claim otherwise?

As for Martin Samuels journalistic ability, surely if he had this anti-sheffield vendetta that some of you seem to imply, he'd have been lookin for the story (and most likely have found it) other than acting on a tip-off. Jesus, you're acting like he's Oliver Holt.;)

You misunderstand me, i would never tarnish the memory of Mary Whitehouse like that;) What i was referring to, as you well know, is the moral stance that McCabe has taken over this which if the Kabba story is anything to go by, he has little room for arguement.

anyway if you want to hear really stupid try this, courtesy of ROIblade of the blades mad board;

"i suppose next you will be saying that you can only claim third party car insurance if TWO other cars are involved"

Once again you're an idiot. Firstly two other cars would make four cars involved you imbecile.

First Party = owner of car 1
Second Party = owner of car 2
Third Party = alternative driver with access to one of the cars

The car itself is not to be one of the parties.

Once again:
First Party = Sheffield United
Second Party = Watford

First Party = Corinthians
Second Party = West Ham
Third Party = MSI

I didn't think it was that difficult to grasp but obviously I was wrong. Kabba and Tevez are the subject of the transfers but not one of the parties.

Clearly your lack of understanding comes down to two things:

1. You read the papers and message boards and take them as gospel truth as you have no working knowledge of the rules and regulations yourself. You clearly can't distinguish the difference between what West Ham admitted guilt to, and what we have been accused of.

2. You lack the most basic intelligence required to be able to count to three

Priceless!:D
