Yeh, that's the one. On the street which has The Walkabout, The Cavendish and Varsity.

They only gave us half a pillow each though.

The lowdown
In the words of Mark Bright for MOTD on Saturday – “Dear, dear, dear – that is shocking”. Not a truer phrase could have been used to describe Ipswich Town’s performance on Saturday. My personal analyse of it was that Newcastle were doing everything we SHOULD have been doing and didn’t. They pressurised everything, we were stuck with the ball outside the box and they wouldn’t even give Carlos Edwards a 30-yard shot. They wanted the ball then when they got it they made sure they kept it by working for each other to make space and keep the ball on the deck – despite their large strikers. When we had the ball we were compact and struggled to get it away from our feet at times. We were rushed into decisions – where to run? where to pass? when to shoot? I won’t even start on the defensive issues but from an attacking point of view we lacked width and creativity to create space for ourselves. We needed two up front in all honest. Anyway, we have a chance to quickly make it right on Tuesday night and I reckon Keane will have the players more fired up than ever before. There is no doubt it my mind that we will get more stuck in and show more passion on Tuesday but that could count for nothing against a team of Sheffield United’s calibre.

The stats
Having started the season very strongly with wins against the likes of Watford, Reading and Derby, things have started to turn for the Blades as they slipped down to 6th in the table at the weekend following a 2-1 loss away to Swansea despite the Welsh team having two players sent off. They haven’t kept a clean sheet in three and haven’t drawn in four so them thrashing us with a Walters consolation sounds likely! Sheffield United are unbeaten in six league games against Ipswich and aiming for a fourth successive home victory against us. The Blades are unbeaten at home this season and have won every game this season having scored the first goal.

The player-to-watch
matt-kilgallon_1004207c.jpg

Matthew Kilgallon in centre-back is the sort of defender Ipswich need. Agile, strong and skilful – he ticks all the right boxes. He’s not a goalscorer but being 25-years-old and having scored 6 goals isn’t the worst record. The York born player started his career at Leeds where he spent 5 years making 80 appearances. A short and unsuccessful loan spell at West Ham was soon followed by his move to Sheffield where he signed in January 2007 for £2 million. With goal threat low at the moment for Ipswich, having a defender like Kilgallon in the way won’t make the job any easier.

The team news
Ipswich
- No Alex Bruce following a groin injury on Saturday means Tommy Smith is likely to join Balkestein at centre back unless David Wright re-emerges from the wilderness to slot in at left back with Delaney moving across to centre-back.
- McAuley looks set to miss out once again, not just due to a slightly niggling injury but also due to recent performances having not impressed Roy Keane
Sheffield United
- On-loan Blackburn winger, Kevin Treacy is sidelines with a knee injury picked up at Swansea on Saturday
- Former Town target Kyel Reid could come in to replace Treacy.
- Tricky striker, Jamie Ward, will miss out through injury.

The man in the middle
Eddie Ilderton from Tyne & Wear last refereed at Morecambe in Sol Campbell’s cameo appearance for Notts County. He is yet to hand out a red card this season. For reasons unknown to me he doesn’t appear to have refereed at all last season, a guess would be injury or personal problems. However, his last game before his year out was Preston 2-2 Ipswich in our penultimate game of the 07/08 season when Jon Walters got on the score sheet. Ilderton gave out no cards in that fixture.

Hatch’s final word
Go in with an open mind. I don’t expect Sheffield United to be anywhere as near as strong as Newcastle were on Saturday but I still expect them to be up there at the end of the season. Anything but a loss would be a good result in my eyes. But our record against Sheffield is disastrous and they haven’t lost a home game this season yet so the stats point firmly towards a Blades win.

Hatch’s prediction – Sheffield United 3-1 Ipswich Town

Being promoted to the National List of referee's in 2002.

What is the best game you have officiated and why?
Alan Shearer's testimonial for the atmosphere.

My Dad as he has always been there to listen, and help when necessary.

In your opinion who is/was the best referee?
Pierluigi Collina. Total respect from everyone

Fan-terviews
Fan-terview Number One:
Hey, how do you think your season has gone so far?
If I were to grade our start, I'd give us a B+ but be suggesting that an A+ was within reach. We win games ugly - which is fine - but it means that the manager gets some real stick when we lose ugly. We've got more points than I expected so it's been a promising if unspectacular start for the Blades.

What is your squad's main strength?
A few weeks back, I'd have said DEFENCE in a shot but it's been shaky of late. If we can get it back fit and on track, the back four of Kyle Walker, Chris Morgan, Matt Kilgallon and Andy Taylor is a match for any Championship strikeforce.

What is your squad's main weakness?
Too one dimensional. We play direct, ugly football that is usually effective. However, when a team can cope with that - Leicester City as an example - we don't seem to have a Plan B.

Who has been your star player so far?
Tough one - there hasn't been a standout player for me. Mark Bunn and Keith Treacy - the loan signings - have settled in well, Kyle Walker continues to improve, Chris Morgan and Matt Kilgallon are solid as ever. If I had to name one player though, it would be Nick Montgomery. His hard work and destructive work have long been in evidence but he is a better footballer now - not creative but simple and most importantly for Monty, to a red and white shirt 9 times out of 10.

How do you view Ipswich Town as a club?
It's an odd relationship between United and the Tractor Boys. For 3/4 years in the late 1990's, they were amongst the more hated teams at Bramall Lane thanks to Play Off games, Ipswich's ability to keep beating us and a certain Mr Taricco. That has calmed off now and I do admire the way they stick to their footballing principles. Always a darkhorse in this division.

How do you view Ipswich Town's current performances and set up?
Saw them on TV on Saturday and they looked abysmal. Keane seems a motivator to a certain type of player but I get the feeling that Sunderland's squad was more suited to Keane when he arrived there than the current Ipswich squad. Ipswich are a pretty footballing team and Keane doesn't really fit that for me. I don't think they're in any major danger but survival won't be enough for the fans. Can see Keane being gone by May.

If you could have any Ipswich player, who would it be and why?
Have always rated Richard Wright as a solid dependable goalkeeper but the young, tall striker thats breaking through down there (Conor Wickham?) looks a very good player from the bits I've seen. Would probably suit United perfectly!

Do you think Keano can really turn this around? How do you see our season progressing?
I think he'll get the results to get you out of trouble but a promotion push is disappearing fast. The pace at the top is fast early on and from here, mid-table would be a solid finish for Ipswich.

Any tips for travelling Town fans?
Enjoy Bramall Lane - it's the oldest professional football ground in the country and has ten times more character than any of the plastic bowls at Leicester and Reading and Coventry. However, be prepared for stiff knees on Wednesday morning. There isn't much legroom on the Bramall Lane Lower Tier!

Cheers, and finally, what's your match prediction?
Being a Blade - we're famed for pessimism - it's a nailed on Ipswich first win of the season! Seriously, think it'll be close but United to sneak it 1-0 or 2-1.

Fan-terview Number Two:

Hey, how do you think your season has gone so far?
I'd say we are going ok, a better start than I would have thought we would have, however, a lot of our fans think otherwise and are already calling for Blackwell and the chairnan McCabe to go! We don't look pretty at times, we play the pressure game, getting the ball forward and following up. Blackwell does have a good points ratio though so who is right?

What is your squad's main strength?
I think we are very fit and can compete but it's not always enough is it?

What is your squad's main weakness?
Our defence is weaker this season and we often struggle to keep the ball. Perhaps it's a weakness in tactics but often it looks like player weakness to me too. Despite our presumed wealth we still have a weak squad in terms of numbers too!

Who has been your star player so far?
I'd say our success so far has been Ward who will be out injured against you. Others who should be steady should be Morgan, Killgallon and Monty.

How do you view Ipswich Town as a club?
I'm old enough to remember your good days, so would never call you a small club although most of our "newer" fans may expect an easy win.

How do you view Ipswich Town's current performances and set up?
You are underchieving at the moment and it must hurt. The expectation must be high and on paper it looks a good set up.
If only it was that easy!

If you could have any Ipswich player, who would it be and why?
Not sure on this one......players seem to be great at one club and crap at the next so.....pass!

Do you think Keano can really turn this around? How do you see our season progressing?
Any manager should be given more time than the fans/press give them.
It does take time.....but in this instant society it never happens!
I think you will improve......you have to!

Any tips for travelling Town fans?
We are generally a friendly lot......some pubs will let you in and there is plenty of on street parking if you arrive early.

Cheers, and finally, what's your match prediction?
Don't do predictions!

Couldn't include all the interviews but will post a couple of others on the site later.

Did you not include mine because I called you a tightarse :D

Also you got the score prediction wrong... 3-1 Ipswich !?!

Yhe, 3-1 to Sheffield. Definitely. The stats point towards it. You'll score two in the first half then we'll get one back and you'll smash in a 3rd.

Sheffield United don`t do things like that, more likely to be a trickle across teh luine for the 3rd, assuming we can score 3 of course...

Ha ha one thing you'll learn about the Blades is that when a team is out of form and it looks like being a nailed on Blades win.... we generally f things up.

Hence losing in x no of Semi finals, play off finals, losing on the last day of the season twice in the last 15 years to get relegated.

Its the Blades way!

Where relegation is concerned, on every occasion in the last 41 years where we have needed to avoid defeat on the last day of the season we have failed - 1968, 1981, 1994 and 2007. In other words, every 13 years. In 2020 we will do it again.

And we'll beat you at our place on the last day too;)
