Maybe but if you look at the gates for fa cup games nowadays nobodies really bothered unless a big side's involved or it's the later rounds. Used to look forward to 3rd round Satday more than the opening league game. The glamours gone. For me you can take the champions league, premier league and internationals and shove them but the fa cup aint the same any more.
Gibbo, is this because there are too many knock out competitions, or perhaps because Premiership sides insult the memory of times past, by fielding weaker sides?
May be TV has dulled our expectations, or led us to believe, that, only leagues, such as the Champions League ( so many non champions league) it should be ,is the only football of any importance
.
I would suggest that there isn't a Bladesman/woman anywhere , who hasn't had their interest rekindled in the cup this year.
Also with the prices charged per game, there isn't as much dosh to throw around; many supporters, apart from the prawn sandwich brigade, have to count the pennies these days, too many games close together, at too higher price must have an effect on gate receipts when games can be watched on TV.
One thing for sure, my interest is such that the cup final week has been set aside.
I have consulted my Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mrs S. As soon as we reach the final Don't tempt perverse God Sirius, My flight home will be booked.
Now, how on earth would I be able to get a ticket?
