Again, I agree loosely with the point. But in context at least 4/5 players did the same, if not worse than Quinny. In my opinion it was a case of the referee getting his own back after Quinny showed his anger earlier in the game from yet another totally incorrect decision by the man in the middle. I'm half sure the Lino told the ref he'd thrown a punch also. Like I said before, in real time, you could see clear daylight between them both and it was clear to anyone watching it live that it was the most blatent piece of acting you'll ever see in an attempt to get him into trouble.
Yes we shouldn't give them the opportunity, but likewise, players should be retrospectively punished for play acting/blatently cheating. If we can do it for violent conduct, why can't we do it for obvious examples of this?
It's not even neccessarily the key decisions that are annoying me at the moment, it's the culmination of decisions that are utterly astounding to anyone watching the game. They have a hard job and will make mistakes, it's understandable, but this season has been diabolical so far in terms of officiating.
Bar the odd incorrect throw-in/goal kick, it seems firmly stacked to our detriment too. If only they were consistantly crap for both teams.
The standards of officials all round have been nothing short of shite this season, for one instant look at Mark Attwell (that young one) has made some very piss poor decisions in a multitude of games, yet he's still Reffing in the top two divisions. I think the reason we are seeing such a poor quality of referees this season comes down to a few things:
1) The FA are rushing people through courses as they are in dire need of Refs on all levels.
2) Confusion with the rules, Minimal Contact and Intent should be stripped from the rule booking, as ineffect this is promoting the chance for players to dive. Seriously the rule basically says fall over and while a player has stuck a leg out and you'll get a free kick. Plus the rules are really indepth and quite difficult to understand.
3) The FA and other governing bodies are failing to clamp down on cheating. Technology is a must and this could really help.
4) Referees aren't held accountable and I think this also fits in with there shortage of Ref's.
As Foxy and Deadbat says our players need a good look at themselves but more needs to be taken into account, the Referee should also be 'punished for failing to control the game' they're the people on the field who should control the game but when they baltantly let players like McShane kick out and lash out at players for the most of the game what do they expect will happen. The FA have to review the full games not just those highlights, they have to look at everything that was done wrong. Hull were appaling they didn't come to play football they came to kick their way to a result, look at the melee, Monty gets up walks away, and one of their players pushes him from behind, why isn't that player being looked at?, essentially he's the one who started it. We'd be incredibly well behave all up to that point all things considering.
Then look at Bullard, he swings for a one of our players, he then also throws more punches at one of our players chest, he shouldn't have been on the field from this point (never mind scored their winner), the linesman should have seen that and the Ref should have sent him off. Again our players shouldn't have reacted but they were riled up by Hull all game, look at when one of their players... think it was the blonde haired full back, brought Ched down and then kicked out at Ched through his legs, Ched walked away from it but he could have lashed out, why isn't the Hull player being punished for this? (Remember what happened to Morgan when the BBC slowed that footage down of him tapping Van Persie to make it look like Morgan had thumped him)
That whole game needs to be assessed and in truth they'd find alot at fault with Hull and their officials in that one game, I haven't seen everything in the Norwich game but I think Quinn and Reid are being treated harshly in relation to the Norwich players involved too, both Reid and Quinn are around 5'7 the Norwich players stood much taller and really got in both Quinny and Reids faces, in effect trying to bully them, Reid however really lashed out, whereas Quinn mainly did the same as their player put his head in, but the height difference here played apart as the Norwich player then went a dove on the floor as if Quinn had properly stuck a nut on him. Again why aren't this two player being looked at? Also Holt for diving?
It won't help our players but it will help proper justice be given on the games, all three teams are being rightly punished but as for just two of our players and none of theirs, and none of the officials that just stinks and says alot about how we are seen in others eyes. I generally do think this is because we stood up for ourselves and brought the game under a mircoscope for a period, problem is it the lens of the mircoscope needs to be changed to a stronger one, and far more of the game needs to be scruntised!
UTB!
P.S. Have our say we may not be able to do much but we can file official complaints to the FA to request they look at the whole Hull game at least.
