Ex-Blade Shaun Derry new Notts County gaffer?

This one must have flown over my head I can honestly say I knew nothing about it until I just read it and he's been there a month? Confused? Did I know this?

Shaun Derry manager? Without sounding naive what credentials does he hold to manage a league one club? Has he done his coaching licenses then? I mean yes he's had a pretty solid career since leaving us many of which is thanks to Neil Warnock but I didn't expect to see him managing anyone? I didn't even think he would go into management and I definitely wouldn't have had him down as a league one or struggling Notts County's new manager when surely they need a bit of experience to get them out of the mess they are in?.

Apparently despite not officially retiring as a player he is ineligible to play for county what so ever this season as he has already represented QPR and Millwall, so maybe we can un-officially say hes retired.

He was appointed with Greg Abbott as his assistant so he has plenty of experience alongside him.

From what I gather they've been a lot better since he joined and to be fair he has been a captain and always seemed pretty vocal. It didn't surprise me that he'd gone into management but the timing of it did.

I read about it when it was announced, it didn't get much coverage to be fair, so I could understand how you missed the news.

Yeah I didn't notice it til about 2 weeks ago when it was mentioned one saturday afternoon as the scores were coming in.
