Elian Parrino signs on season long loan

Isn't there and old saying that goes something like "forwards win games, defenders win titles"? Not that we've got a cat in hell's chance of winning the league, but half the battle is not conceding goals, and of our three main centrebacks two are injured and one is Nyron. We certainly do need to sign better attack minded players, but I'm not going to complain if Speed is getting our defence sorted out.

Besides all that he's an actual player from an actual link up with an actual club who might just actually play, rather than a diplomatic envoy like Hao Haidong.

Been a while since we signed a foreigner we've never heard of, then we get Calve and Parrino in quick succession!

We'll need him with Bartley and Morgs both out. Still a good move I think despite him being another defender. Those Estudiantes boys are bred to pass the ball about. He will help us bed this new culture in.

Good luck Parrino!

I rememebr seeing this guy in the freindly...

Big towering centre back if it the same guy, he played well & could put a pass or two around as well.

Another plus, and the first REAL signs of any progress from our much vaunted foreign link ups.

BTW what happened the the Argie striker we played in the reserves as well? Has he been sent back?

How many loans are we allowed at one time i thought the rules had changed this season??

Whilst it's great to have new players, and I'm sure people at the club are doing everything they can to get a striker in, I'm struggling to get excited about signing another defender!

Struggling to get excited about a new defender? Lets wait and see how he is shall we.

Plus, whilst defenders may not float your boat, we have Morgs and bartley out for the next few weeks, we have very little cover and De laet is only with us for a month

I'm not sure how many loans are aloud, or how many are quiet, and I am unaware of the total allowed. Foxy is the man for this kind of number crunching, quiet or noisy.

I'm sure he'll be a positive signing and understand the need for cover, but whilst not conceding many goals is great, we've got a long, long way to go as soon as the ball leaves Leon Britton's foot.

Can't remember him specifically from the friendly but they looked solid against our potent attcking force ! As SCB says, they were all comfortable on the ball as well and not shy in coming forward. Doesn't look like he has featured in their first team.

Can't see him walking straight in but you never know.

Had a quick trawl, love this......

"Elian Parrino, until the first semester of the current year, militated in the rows of the reserve of Students of the silver, after the disputed friendly party with the English equipment Sheffield FC United.

The English equipment vió interested in the sport qualities of this player, who evolves in center of the defense, as I complete man. Great cabeceador, bold with the ball on the foot, and of great hierarchy in the playground, to the equipment, it and usually motivates it.

The player has arrived at the club, in the passage of this week, in order to get up itself to the group.

Pase has been realised as loan, with purchase option.

Inlgés will stay in first intancias by the period of a year in the club"

Its not strikers that we need, its wingers. We have strikers, but we need to give them some supply

How refreshing to see some decent English on this site at last! :)

Third Tier Football

The OS report also states that he has been on loan at Tandil in the Argentine third tier of football. So he must be good then.

Let's hope that we are not signing players who are only capable of playing in the third tier, eh?

How many loanees have we got now?

Just the three, Nos and Kyle on long term (Calve desn't count) and De Laet. Presumably, cancelling Walton's contract means he doesn't count either.

Come on Speedo, get 'em in :)

Is Calve a permanent signing?

No, he's a 12 month loan, when loaning a foreign player the owning club cancels the players registration and the loaning club takes it over, then at the end of the loan the reverse happens. Whereas loaning players from our league the owning club maintains the players registration.

How come our new Argie defender can get a work permit if he hasn't played internationally?

Is Calve a permanent signing?

No, it's a season long but the rules are different from foreign clubs. In effect, they hand over his registration for the season so he is our player as far as league rules go. A bit like a 'legal' Tevez ;)

Parrino could be the same.

We currently sit bottom of the goals scored ttable with a pathetic 5 goals in 9 games. Since Speed has taken over we've signed a keeper and 2 defenders. Perhaps this guy is good at attacking headers from corners??!

Hmmm, not sure this is appropriate here. Perhaps speed thinks that we can stay up by suring up the defence and drawing every game 0-0. I suppose we'll sneak the odd 1-0 win and concede the od goal. But if we rack up 25 draws and about 4 or 5 wins they we'll probably be safe.

Personally I'd sooner try and score goals to win games, but (as many posters keep telling me) Speedo knows more than I do. Hence I'll sit back and watch us fail to hit the back of the net and remain patient that he may eventually move into the market for an attacking, creative player.

Great signing IMO if he can live up to his reputation. How long have we been crying out for a great cabeceador who is bold with the ball on the foot and is of great hierarchy in the playground?
