Just seen on ssn that an irish billionaire interested in investing in consortium. Putting up to 20 million in to buy players. How comes we don't attract that kind of investor. I know they are in league above but when you think of potential who would be best

Putting £20 million into Doncaster would be as sound an investment as the tenner I put on McIroy to win the Open on Wednesday night. 2/3 rds of the town support Leeds, the remaining third split between Donny and the Pigs.

They are never going to average more than 10,000 even if the entire Barcelona team signed for them!

Because McCabe wants his money back as well

Overseas investment isn't always a good thing though. Ask pompey about that.

Would be interested to find out which billionare ?. Celtic have one in charge , peterboro are another , and the previous owners of manu made a fortune from the glaziers , Their is one that springs to mind and he's ahem already had dealings with the pikey's , and its supposed to be one of the way's he did become a tax exile billionare, owns a couple of radio stations , few papers and a tv station over here . Would make McCabe look like an angel and would sue at the drop of a hat , he has the dosh but as straight as a 50p piece allegedlly , If his initials are D.O.B. he is indeed minted .

A goverment inquiry found he had given or facilitated a million euro to the then communication minister. When our next mobile network came up for sale 1 guess who got the gig , mr DOB he then sold the company for over 200 million euro , became a tax exile and been fighting the taxman for 11 years cause he owes close to 58 million , owns the digicell mobile network , sponsers the irish cricket team , pays half the irish football managers wages , major shareholder in irelands largest newspaper.Owns 2 radio stations, and shareholder in 1 of our tv stations , lots of fingers in lots of pies , rich as fook . Part of the facilitation was property in Mansfield and an interest in the pikeys old shithole of a ground . His buddy owns celtic so maybe wants in on that ego trip of a football play thing. Tons more but don' t want to bore you to much.

Again though the question must be asked........if fucking Doncaster Rovers can find investment then why cant we?
It has to be Kevin McCabe......

I lived in Donny for years and I only know one person who supports Leeds.

These days Rovers shirts are everywhere.

I worked with a lad from Donny in 2000. He was a big Wednesday fan. Lost contact with him and then around 2008 connected with him on Facebook. He's now decked out in full Donny kit and is a season ticket holder there! I imagine a few of the Donny Leeds fans were the same when Leeds went shite

It's easy for Donny to find investment. They are like Man City, they don't own their ground

Which given that they struggle to break 8,000 when their shirts are "everywhere", it tells you all you need to know about future potential - None.

Haven't they just taken over he remainder of the lease (just shy of 100 years) from the Council, for free? Perhaps the fact that they do in fact have a ground and can therefore profit from events at same swayed the potential investor's decision.

They have a 99 year operating lease but I wasn't aware that it was free - maybe it is.

Keepmoat was running at a loss which is why there is a 10 year lease for Rugby plus events. Increasing utilisation must be a condition of the lease.

Ah no, costs DRFC £100k pa inflation-linked:

Budgeted losses were £300k pa. when the council was running it.

Ah, not quite free then. My Donny supporting mate's been giving me crap information! Still, £100k p/a (give or take a bit for inflation) isn't bad to get all the benefit of a £30m stadium and negate the need for any rent payments. Surely they'd only have to host a couple of decent events a year to make more than their £100k back.

It's not quite as good as buying it for £1, but that would just be silly.

Not free at all, given that Donny have to pay all the operating costs - ie most of what was costing Doncaster Council £300k pa - on top of the £100k pa rent.

well last time they went up to the championship their average attendance was almost 12k, but anyway.

The point I was making is hardly anyone in Doncaster supports Leeds in my experience.
