Does George Long have a future here?

He would /is ten times the keeper that Long is. I don't think Long ever played behind a McEveley/Alcock central defence pairing ,but if it helps in making excuses for Long crack on. Wilder thankfully sussed Long out early doors.

It’s a question that needs asking.

I believe after everything that’s gone on, the fact he’s doing so well at Wimbledon is testament to his mental strength and the type of person he is. The attitude he’s shown to rebuild his confidence and frankly his career is exactly the type of attitude we want here.

He’s had more of a bad time at the Lane than good but let’s not forget he broke a record for clean sheets in his first season and under Adkins was a bit of hope for us for the future in an otherwise bleak season.

At Wimbledon he is performing outstandingly well. Another clean sheet yesterday, 4-0 away at Bradford. That’s a grand total of no goals he’s conceded in January, for a let’s face it very average League One outfit - at absolute best.

If we were scouting League One for long term competition for Moore next season and onwards (assuming we probably wont be able to sign Blackman) we’d be looking at the most impressive defensive records - and no one can argue George fits the bill. People might say he’s ‘found his level’ but I very much disagree. Keepers hit their peak a lot later than outfield players and Long is still in his early twenties.

Has he got a future here? After this season and if he continues in the same vein it’s hard to say no.

Keep at it George. We’re all rooting for you.

I don't think he has i'm afraid. But he's building a bit of something for himself down there, and he will do fine. GLTTL

He was a young lad with a bright future, hes now nearly 25 and hasn't earned his place, let him go

never understood all the stick he got
was behind a very poor team when some had a go at him
still kept his fair share of clean sheets

He could not handle a ball for his life. Made some decent saves dont get me wrong and was good at 1on1's but parried almost all shots to their players for tap ins

he was 20 21 , had things to learn
had he been 28 youd have a point

goalies rarely reach maturity till 25 plus

repors of him now are glowing

Long's always being a decent shot stopper - on form. Watching this video from his time thus far at Wimbledon, I see nothing that is better than Moore. Long's problem was his insistence to punch over catching and although he often makes the punch, it often ended straight back where it came from. I would still be of the opinion to let him go this summer.

Moore is a decent keeper, and you think this season how many goals have being his fault?! Maybr Hull City, but other than that I can't recall one. He is a very solid keeper and although he punches on occasions where I'd like him to catch, he doesn't make many mistakes at all and is stil young for a keeper.

Here's the video with Artic Monkeys background! Judge for yourselves I guess.

Steve "shitto simmo" Simonsen.......dear oh dear, what was that game (at home), where he was bouncing the ball, about to boot it up field, and (I think) he dropped the ball and an opposition striker pounced on it and slotted it in? Something like that. He was pretty crap.

Howard, first leg of the play offs, at home, a 30 yard, slow, "grass cutter" from Swindon, sort of bobbled past him in slow motion. I was always convinced he needed glasses/contacts but was in denial. The number of easy, long range shots that beat him that season, incredible.

You could be talking about Moore before his recent improvement.
