Appealing for local knowledge of where we can head for a drink and breakfast tomorrow before heading to meet SEB at Stratford. Quite frankly, we're trying to avoid that horrendous health hazard that was the pub (Coach & Horses?) which apparently was flooded with piss in the gents.

We're getting into London at around 8am (cheap train) and heading for breakfast. Would we be heading south of the river to the boozers round Borough Market before popping on the Jubilee?

Wetherspoons are likely to be the only pubs open for an early breakfast: the Angel at Angel was OK last time I went in (although I should point out that's now 3 years ago).

Angel is an easy trip from Kings Cross/St Pancras: there's buses up Pentonville Road or it's one stop on the Northern line and from there, it's easy to get to Stratford: down to Bank on the Northern and then across to Stratford on the Central.

Ollessendro is wondering where his fellow Blades will be drinking tomorrow? Olle is still pondering where to fill himself with real ale before the game at Orient.

Papa Luigi is arriving at half 9 into Kings Cross. The two competing options are:

1) tube up to Walthamstow: grab some brekky, then into the King William IV (http://www.williamthefourth.net/). What an ale house this looks like. Big old Victorian pub, with 16 handpumps. They all sell their own ale, which is priced at £2.35 a pint!

2) tube up to Stratford: brekky and then the Tap East (http://www.travelswithbeer.com/2011/11/01/tap-east-london/). 10 beers on tap and somert different. The added benefit of this is that if we were to get bored, then we could walk to the Birckbeck Tavern (http://www.travelswithbeer.com/2011/11/01/tap-east-london/) another real ale pub closer to the ground (and conveniently on the way).

It should be a no brainer towards King Billy. Cheap, well kept ale. However there are a few London Blades going on a bit of a crawl after and this is one of the pubs that was mentioned. Hence Ollessendro is wondering whether it might be better to go to the Tap and then have a couple of jars in the King William after. Olle also needs to think about sending Papa Luigi back towards King Cross, for a train at half 7 (which is probably better from Walthamstow on the Victoria line).

Hmmmm, Olle has never been reit good at mekkin decisions. Ollessendro will speak to a mucker t-neet n mek a decision. But Olle wondered what others were duin before the match ....

If Foxy is still interested in those videos he could come and see me in N8....

That sounds far ruder than it actually is.

Hahaha... I shall be having words with his Lordship tonight :D

In a fit of generosity, I might even be willing to give you breakfast.... You can get to mine if you get the Piccadilly Line up to Turnpike Lane from King's Cross - 2o mins on the tube.

I'm swaying more towards the Tap East idea, I think that Foxy and Linz are heading that way too so I'll be able to buy them a pint in part-payment for them paying for the server to host my opinions. There's ample opportunity after the game to go and see the slums of Walthamstow.

The other major consideration is that Tap East is at Stratford where you have Jubilee, Central, DLR, Overground and National Rail; whereas the King Billy is a mile from Walthamstow Central (Victoria) or Leyton Midland Road (Overground Gospel Oak-Barking).

Gutted i'm missing this one actually. I'm racing on Sunday, and i can't rust myself to stay sober whilst out with you guys tomorrow, so giving it a miss. Roll on the end of the Cyclocross season in December....

There's a race the day after the Brentford game as well. I will however give that one a miss in order to get smashed with you guys. :)

Foxy can we have a ban for Highbury please? He needs to learn that football and beer are better than diving the Channel and riding a pushbike round a park.

Brentford could be interesting: I land at 4.50am after flying in from Sydney so the logical conclusion is that I will be even more pissed this year :)

Linz - I'm most disappointed you are dissing the Coach and Horses. My brother in law is coming with me to the game again tomorrow just on the strength of the opportunity to marvel at the Worst Pub in East London (if not all the land). It holds a special place in my psyche.

What time you hitting stratford at? I can meet youse over that way. is Tap East the plan?

no wonder he never finished the shed then ;)

As it happens the weather might be too dangerous for the diving tomorrow, so i might be coming after all. If a i can rustle up a ticket on the day that is.

Hmmm, did not see this thread before I put my one up (http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/decisions-decisions-boozing-tomorrow.28164/#post-445514) about what to do tomorrow. I would be avoiding you two like the plague (after the bad results last season) but am now in doubt (as we have a 100% record from bumping into each other this year ..... albeit from a sample of 1!?) ;)

Linz - if you want a posh breakfast, then you could take a short walk to Angel and go to the Breakfast Club on Upper Street. I have never been, but apparently it is good. It is kind of American diner style brekky by all accounts (website http://www.thebreakfastclubcafes.com/). You could then have a drink at the pub Balham suggests (presumably close by) before either taking the tube from Angel or walking up to Highbury and Islington (other end of Upper Street) and taking the overground train straight to Stratford. I think the East London Tap (of you are actually going there) opens at 11am, so by the time you've had some snap the there is not that much time to kill.

I'm not really up on boozers that open early (if you are looking to start boozing early doors). There are definately some on Fleet Street (though this is out of your way) and any Spoons will be open from 9:30 I imagine.

Swaying on the side of the latter at the moment.

Not sure I will be going to Brentford this season. I am struggling a bit financially and will be picking and choosing games. With Orient, Swindon and Crawley (all new grounds for me) before Christmas then Brentford is looking like one I might have to miss. I just cannot see how it would be anything other than disappointing compared to last season, which is a factor too. It was a great day out last year, with sunshine and beers before, packed out terraces, excellent atmosphere and a good performance (lead by Ched). It's likely that we don't get any of those factors this year (excluding beer) and highly unlikely that we get all of them. That said, when it comes to late November I might finding it difficult to say no.

Tap East is Ok. LAst time I was in there, they had Thornbridge on tap (Wild Swan, I think) and loads of other decent beers from local (Poplar Pale Ale isn't bad) to imported (fantastic selection of imported bottled stuff, Flying Dog from Denver is wonderful). Worth a visit but not the biggest of bars, and it is in the Westfield Shopping Centre. Bonus is plenty of eating establishments to suit all palettes (but eat at my brother-in-laws place, Caribbean Scene, or else) :D

Theres a cracking bus shelter at the top of the Lea Bridge Road and Ill be heading there for a couple of bottles of Tescos cider and a few bracing sniffs of glue.

Breakfast Club is OK if you like syrup on your sausage in a morning (oo-err, another one for Darren!) not sure on early openers around theer apart from The Angel though which is standard 'spoon stuff. Hobgoblin is decent up there but doesn't open until 12.

Olle is right I think about Tap East, it is an 11am opener.

You going tomorrow South Essex?

Seeing as we've got somewhat of an extended entourage tomorrow, we shall reserve @Darren's kind offer of a potential breakfast for another trip and probably head for Wethers before going to find SEB and whoever else is around.

We've got time for a cheeky few after if the LBs will have us... if it helps, we've probably got the newest recruit to your ranks with us and she happens to be a she! I'll have to get her to register as Catford Blade.

We are boozing at Stratford. Not sure the specifics, but we are meeting up with some others round there.

Playing by ear... got various people coming to find us so might be best dropping us a text. We're landing at 8am so reckon we'll be moving on for around 11ish.

If anyone wants to come and say "ay-up" or whatever, either PM me or Foxy for mobile numbers or keep an eye on Twitter for check-ins.

Just stay at home and listen to the match on the radio in your shed with a pack of Fosters.

Reit decision med. Stratford first, East Tap and maybe a stop at the Birckbeck. Post match beers and discussion in the King William IV.

Hope to catch some of you lot tomorrow. Not got a fancy phone, so will not be able to get updates. But if anyone fancies a beer (and sees this before 9am tomorrow morning) then PM me.

Another question.

How far is it walking from Stratford to LOFC?
