Sheffield United pair Michael Tonge and Claude Davis are in the sights of Premiership new-boys Derby County.

Rams boss Billy Davies worked with Davis at Preston and rates the big Jamaican along with midfield schemer Tonge.

Jumping clubs is always a risky business. If you are not an outstanding star, not being known at the new club you can quickly end up on the bench. Thinking long-term (two-years), for most of our players their best prospect would be staying put.

Its from TribalFootball, they pick random players and clubs and put them together (much like the south park episode 'cartoon wars' about family guy:D )

Wouldn't necessarily be too bothered to see Claude go; he's had some outstanding games but some very dodgy ones too and often seems out of his depth from set pieces. Be gutted to see Tongey go though.

think davis will do well in championship.

Davis would be missed!

Davis would be a great loss - with Jags 'probably' on his way, CB is going to be difficult to fill. Big C however has been mint throughout the season - 1 sickening mistake against pompey but hes quick, strong and i fancy him to do well in fizzy pop next yr.

Surely this would encourage a complete turn around in the team as opposed to the 'fine tuning' robbo described?

Shame to see tonguey go as i agree that under Robbo - a more passing style would suit him.

Does sound that way doesn't it?

Welcome to the forum Bexley :)

Can't see either going. Derby will be back down next season i think.

That's a very risky move, especially if we end up swapping places with Derby come the end of the season.

Derby target Sheffield Utd, Watford talent

Derby County boss Billy Davies is ready to raid two of the Premiership's relegated clubs to strengthen his squad.

The Daily Express says Davies is eyeing moves for Watford defender Danny Shittu and Sheffield United duo Michael Tonge and Claude Davis.

I hope they dont go.

We shouldnt need to sell them and there is no reason for them to go to a team like Derby.

I dont think it would be a great loss, Davis made a great contribution to the appalling error against Pompey that cost us two points, I know its not fair to pick on one incident for our demise, but it was indicitive of some poor defending.

As for Tonge, he needs to leave, both for the good of SUFC and his career.

Keep them both!
There won't be many better centre-backs in the Championship than Davis, and Tonge can do a job anywhere across the midfield

If they moved to Derby id be seriously pissed off.

Wouldnt say no if it was to a decent club that didnt shag sheep. lol

We dont need to be selling players.

Everybody has a fresh start under Robson, he will decide over the summer who he wants to keep and let go.

I doubt very much that either Davis or Tonge will feature in his 'let go' list.

I agree; however, it may be out of our hands. Players may have relegation release clauses, or may simply hand in transfer requests. Whilst I'd prefer not to lose any of our players, I'd rather have players at the club who want to play for us, rather than more Michael Browns.

I don't think the players will leave us. Tonge seems to be a very loyal player if I'm honest, and Davis might be a risk they don't want to take,

Latest...
Derby boss Billy Davis is chasing Sheffield United defender Claude Davis and is ready to pay £3.5m. (The People)

That would be getting very close to money i'd accept for him.

just goes to show £3.5m for davis...and £4m jagielka shows what an absolute joke that clause in jagielks contract really is

True

We could see Davis go for more than Jags which is an utter joke.

Although we shouldnt be selling anyone really apart from Jags end of.

SSN reported Davis goin to Derby tomorow for £3m
so he is 3/4 as good as Jagz

what a joke :(

jags shouldnt have gone for less than £5m

Without the clause that Jags wanted, he'd have gone a lot sooner for less or seen out his contract (the one before the latest) and left on a free.

Hows it not on? we had absolutely no choice in the matter :), I'm sure the Blades would have loved to set the clause at £12mil, but that would have achieved little other than Jags not signing a contract.

Dya think Sidwell is worth £1mill less than Naysmith? ;)

He's worth more, but in terms of the transfer fee we could command, we had our hands tied.

So much for Jagielka having red and white blood running through his vains then if thats true Foxy.

Cant understand why we are selling Davis, he has pace and is more than capable at this level.

Robson must have some players ready to bring in, hopefully a new right winger, creative central midfield player and a new quick centre half.

Its not looking good so far.
