Wilders faith in mcburnie really baffles me, we look more like a footballing side with him not in it. He has his uses I suppose but shouldn’t be a starter, maybe a late sub when we’re a goal up, it would give the opposition something different to deal with and his defensive contribution is decent.

yes, there's a lot of common sense in that, but CWAK appear to be continually searching & chopping/changing. internationals and injuries certainly haven't helped us - but what all managers tend to do after a loss, then another loss is search for a formula that works.

As you write, and it's same for me, he will put McB back in as soon as he is fit - and suddenly we'll start going long again.

McG last night was excellent by allowing him to roam about and only Burke up top and in a way it worked - but it won't work with McB as although McB works his socks off, most of his work is slow and ponderous and ineffective.

From an attacking point, maybe, and there’s an argument to say ‘we’ve been losing every week anyway, so way not’? Defensively it would be a kamikaze move. Teams have been cutting through us like a knife through warm butter with our current formation and this would just compound the problem, in my opinion. We’ve not good enough to try and out score our opponents, so we have to try and keep some sort of defensive structure whilst cutting out the stupid errors.

Whilst I understand what you mean, this system in my opinion would just result in us losing more heavily, rather than turning the narrow defeats into 3-2 or 4-3 victories. That said, we haven’t got a hell of a lot to lose, so why not try it!

Yeah because that approach has served us really well so far this season.

I’d rather see us have a go than the rancid mess they served up at Southampton.

I get what you mean, but they've been cutting through us, partly because the game has been played in our half.
Taking the game to them, in a sensible way, relieves that.
Also our defence isn't as tough a previously, so we have to have opportunity and belief we can score a couple too.

We need to protect our defence better. Defending further up the pitch and then keeping possession will help. SUFC defenders should be on twice as much money as everybody else. Because they have to work twice as hard.

The first time I saw McGoldrick in United colours was the day he signed for us, we were playing Inter Milan at the Lane. I got there early enough to watch the players warm up... as it turns out I wasn't watching the players at all, I was mesmerised by McGoldrick, with his slick flicks and he was hitting balls with some venom too, he then started showing off doing the crossbar challenge. At that time I knew he was going to be a great signing. He then went on to score on his United debut that day.

For me personally, he's up there with my favourite United players ever... not as high as Brian Deane mind. People may laugh at that and I really couldn't care less.

Agree there 100 percent. If he could finish consistently (I know he's our top scorer, but you get what I mean) even at his age he'd be circa 20m. Absolute delight of a player.

Speak to any Forest or Ipswich fan - they all absolutely loved Goldy- they all have seen silky skills galore- what they didn't see was goals. I love him too- when he's on it- he can give you moments that are worth the entrance fee on their own.

If the rest gave the commitment he does every time- we'd have some team. Fleck was class night as well though.

Mcgoldrick played well for long periods and finally we had the two strikers we have all been crying out for to have a chance. Glimmer of hope I'm not sure!

There's a great deal to give us hope including that we're only 3pts behind WBA, 5 behind Fulham and 11 behind Toon who are currently in free-fall. 10 behind B&HA but forget them as I think they're the best of the bunch and will stay up IMO

Plenty of hope left and loads to play for; I don't think we'll be as crap second half of the season as we were during the first half
