For me he was the stand out player in the pre-season and I thought that he might have done enough to warrant at the very least a seat on the bench and the odd 20-30 minutes here and there.

Apparently he has shown what he is all about again today in the development set up, showing composure to score our second in a 2-1 victory.

Does he deserve a sniff at bottom of the league Southend?

Would you drop both Done and Basham and go for Chapman and Duffy out wide and Brooks and Fleck int middle?

Would we be too lightweight and lack any real height?

Would we look a great deal more composed and confident going forward?

AM I GOING INSANE AND THINKING TOO MUCH?

Not Southend, things are far too tense right now to risk an unknown quantity.

Give him a run out at that worthless EFL trophy. Bit of experience and no crowd to worry about.

Cup games are made for players like Brooks. I'm a big fan of his but as Tyler says we can't risk him in the league just yet.
2 or 3 cup games then I'd consider him on the bench.

You see this is where I would've wanted our fringe and youth players like Brooks to play in the Cup games. I was disappointed with CW on Tuesday fielding a full strength team against Crewe, I like his attitude of wanting to take every competition seriously and the mindset of wanting to try and win every match, however, I don't think you'll find many Blades out there that give a toss about the Cups under the circumstances that this is our 6th consecutive season in L1. We've had our Cup runs to 2 Semi-Finals in the League and FA Cup recently when Clough was in charge so the only aim right now should be in the League for promotion. It also can't have helped the first team against Rochdale on Saturday and now we play again tomorrow night, so that's 3 games in a week the first 11 are going to have to play so its not ideal is it.

Fringe and youth players should have something to prove if they're not in the first team, therefore they should have played.
