Not sure they’d part with him
Sure he’s on high wages
Thanks…you answered your own question 🥱
You having an enjoyable day in the sun pal? You certainly seem fun. I never asked any question mate....I just wasn't quite sure what the over the top response was to the previous feller

Talk sport were saying today that shammers are looking to offload him. I know he's getting on a bit, but as a loan for a year to bring some PL experience to the youngsters up front I think it's a good shout. He plays well in red and white! What other options do we have at the moment, nothing seems to be forthcoming with a week to go.....

Quick Google:

"It also transpires that he earns a stratospheric £125k per week and (it gets worse) as he was given a two and a half year deal, the Hammers are obliged to pay £16 million pounds in wages over the next 30 months.,He is now the second top earner in the squad, just behind Lucas Paqueta."

Are we still keen? At 125k per week, if he broke his leg I'd still make him play!

just shows where modern football is when a player like danny ings is getting paid 125k a week hes a good striker but nowt special and has had his best years definete no from me
I pointed out on another thread that a Nottingham journalist wrote that Woods and Shelvey are on over 180 k a week between them and Forest can't get rid.

None of us want to go down this route but I don't see how we ever establish ourselves in the PL unless we eventually do.

Its not just about attracting players its also about retaining them. Its ok identifying plauwrs we can improve but eventually, the likes of Anel and Hamer will get offered thst kind of money from another team

It's a double-edged sword isn't it? Either pay those wages and stay up or recruit on the cheap and risk relegation. On the other hand, you can't improve on the squad if you can't recruit new players because the ones you've deemed not good enough can't be moved on. It's a ticking time bomb because eventually these teams will go down due to a lack of progression and when they do, they'll be in a much much worse position than we were.

Paying Danny Ings silly money is probably why Villa want to sell Archer instead of blooding him into their team - he's probably one of the few saleable assets they have that might accept the wages of a team willing to take a chance on him.

As for buying players like Hamer and Anel, then selling them on for a profit, I think that's the route we have to go down. And to be fair, that's not a bad incentive for new players we want to sign who may be willing to accept our wage structure/relegation clauses.

Who says we have to pay his full wages? I'm not sure of the actual details regarding loans, but I admit I do mot understand the intracies of the the system. But a sensible offer might be enough. A 31 year old striker, might have to compromise a bit if he wants to continue his career. I'm a practical man, EPL players and clubs live in an unreal world. Just a thought for a good deal for all concerned. Obviously, he can just sit there and take the money...

Totally agree. I think we are currently at the stage where we are a yo yo club. A richer owner could establish us in the PL but a bad owner could have us back in division one.

Developing players and selling them on is the Brighton and Brentford model. For it to work and maintain a PL status you need a great infrastructure from top down, but particularly on the recruitment front. We clearly aren't there but the recent foreign additions give hope as Anel has been a great acquisition and Souza and Traore look to have a lot of potential.

Who pissed in your Cheerios mate?

What actually happened to Danny Ings anyway? He seemed to be fairly prolific then Villa suddenly got rid - perhaps Emery wasn't keen.

Simply past his peak maybe? Only scored 2 in 17 for Wet Spam last season and as you say it didn't seem to quite work at Villa

Bumped cause seeing loads of excitement in shoutbox (uncouth lot ;) ) about Ings out of the blue. Wits that all abart? T-Blade Rocket Man

Bamford, Ings, and King, are we just going after injury prone players!? What's the next one to be linked? Dominic Calvert Lewin on loan?
