I hope you’re right, it is in our hands and, happily, the signs are there. The only counter to your view is that Macdonalds etc and Wetherspoons are thriving.......I pay for an online news service in Cornwall that has no advertising - it’s a small step but every journey and all that.... The big issue is the BBC, they are being politicised by successive governments who don’t like scrutiny. No one should ignore genocide of the natives, or their involvement in slavery but to suggest the place was built on that totally ignores the economic growth of the USA when they took in immigrants from all over the world. It didn't become an industrial powerhouse until after slavery was abolished. Thats a fact.

I worked for the Daily Express in the early ‘80’s, then a moderate mid market paper that sold 2.2 million copies a day (about 100,000 more than the Mail). I doubt it sells more than 500k now.

The treatment of Native Americans was shocking, but so was the Conquistador's treatment of Central and South American native people.

History is (unfortunately) littered with similar terrible stories from all over the world.
