Walsall manager Dean Smith has refused to rule out the loan signing of Sheffield United and former Walsall duo Febian Brandy and Florent Cuvelier as the Blades are keen to offload the pair for the remainder of the season.

Speaking to the Express & Star, he said; “They are obviously two players I like because I have had them here before. Whether we as a team have moved away from them, I’m not sure, it’s something I will have a think about.”

He continued; “Febian chose to go to Sheffield United in the summer rather than stay here and Flo has had a couple of medical issues. That is something we would have to bear in mind as well.”

I'd normally say we'd be foolish to loan to a side in the same division but since we've already played Walsall twice and they aren't really in the relegation battle, it might actually help. Especially if they were to perform well against other sides down the bottom.

Well it's not a rumour that we're hoping to loan them out.
And it's not a rumour that Smith has said he's thinking about a deal.

A rumour for me is something you've heard in the pub from a mate's brother's friend

Cuvelier was the new Cantona when we signed him, are we sure we should be letting Cantona go to Walsall on loan? He might not get a game?? To be honest they're both hopeless to ordinary, should be looking to flog em not loan em out. When do we ever loan players out and they come back and do well? No we just keep them in the squad for 3 years, loaning them out now and again, then release them for nowt. May as well just try to flog em now and save on the wages. That's one major failing we've had in the last decade, not cutting our lossses. Nice to see Clough is a lot more willing to get players out the door.

The successful teams have a revolving door of failures. The quicker you get rid of the ones who don't work out, the quicker you can get in new players. You need the wages for first team regulars, not someone who can barely get on the bench but is supposedly one for the future. Obviously we're in a fairly unique situation of having an entire squad of em. And that's cos we keep em too long. 6 months is plenty of time for a player to make his mark, unless he's about 18. A big part of the problem was Danny Wilson was scared crapless to let anybody go, cos he never knew if McCabe would let him bring anybody else in. Hopeflly that crazy policy is a thing of the past.

I think we will finish mid table this season but it would be a bugger if we loan them to Walsall and we really move up the league only to be pipped by Walsall.
