Blackwell is not going to get sacked any time soon. He's had an appalling run of luck with injuries and referees decisions. We were very unfortunate not to beat the league leaders last night. I expect Jamie Ward to make a big difference to the team when he returns, which could be as early as next weekend. I actually asked McCabe about Blackie yesterday as he was in the pub. He said that he admires Blackwell a lot, and indicated that he has no intention of changing our manager. He's a patient man. Look how long he gave Robson.

Blackwell got the tactics right last night. We dominated the game and lost to a cruel, lucky goal.

Dooley is a different case because (1) his tragic playing career makes him hard to dislike (2) he was in an admin role at the Lane and (3) he came over after the Pigs had treated him appallingly. None of those things would apply to Pearson.

Please don't tell me you think any player has the speed of thought to know how he is going to deflect a ball being fired towards him at probably about 60mph from less than ten yards away. If, in your opnion, Morgan has been poor along with the rest of the defence, for the last few weeks, then i don't have any argument with that at all. But to suggest that a player can think about how they block a shot from short distance and think about where it will go in a nano-second is a bit much don't you think??

He gave Robson about 3 car paqrk demo's and one major one. He'll give Blackwell about the same. We haven't won in 7. If that becomes "11", the pressure and demo's will become enormous.

At least we've shown signs of altering our play. I remain to be convinced that Blackwell can deliver that but sincerely hope he can. So far, even allowing for injuries, we've performed poorly - though injuries have clearly hampered us.

Curbs? Wasn't he the manager of West Ham during the Tevez affair. That makes a huge difference. I understand Coppell is a favourite of the powers that be

Coppell is the outstanding candidate. Sure there are question marks but that's true of any and all managers.

He built a promotion team at Palace and an outstanding promotion team at Reading. He can spot a bargain: Doyle, Sidwell and Hunt to name but four. He is thoughtful, dignified and articulate. He's seen it all and done it all.

Most importantly, he believes in real football.

He should be appointed tomorrow, if not sooner!

I agree about Coppell doing a fantastic job at Reading but he comes across as a very shy person who can't really be doing with stress in his life, why trapse all the way up to Sheffield at his age to do a mirror job to what he did at Reading? I don't think he's got the heart for it to be honest, he has nothing to prove.

The potential of our club is far greater than Reading could ever be. They were taken as far as they could by a brilliant manager and a supportive chairman. United on the other hand are a big city club with potential to establish ourselves as a Premiership club attracting 35,000+ gates.

I really don't understand the 'up north' business either. He's from Lancashire isn't he?

Our club is losing its sense of direction at present. Blackwell is swimming out of his depth and against the tide. His post match comments are becoming ever more ludicrous and symptomatic of the drowning man. I don't believe in change for its own sake but I fear that a great deal of progress under K-Mac is unravelling in front of us.

We need a new approach and a new style of management. I firmly believe Coppell is the man for the challenge. Let's not undersell ourselves!

I can't understand why people keep blabbing on about Alan Curbishley as the next Sheffield United manager. The guy has openly admitted that he would not manage a Northern club. He is Southern, his life and family is settled in London and he wouldn't unsettle that. On top of this, he is much more likely to go to a Premier League club than come to manage Sheffield united.

This is not the first time I have heard it said Coppell would want the job. This does not sit well with what he said when he quit Reading, which was that he was going to take a break from football and might retire permanently. Is there any recent comment from him saying something different? If not, there's no point in speculating that he might come, because Coppell is generally known as someone who means what he says.
