Just seen the name on twitter as a triallist, anyone know anything about him?

Have a look at the overhead goal he scored playing for Ireland u18 on YouTube, cracking goal.
Reading u21, Ireland u21, looks worth a trial to me!
His big brother plays in Scotland I believe.

Cheers for that, I know fuck all about computers or how you do magic like that!!!
Not a bad finish though is it.

His job is to defend, not score impressive goals on YouTube, and he's proved today he is not up to the standard.

What was wrong?
In what was a stroll for our defence, he made 2 errors that could have lead to goals, as well as a few positional errors
Unless it's been pre arranged, I don't think he'll be going to Spain.

Thought every player was here to defend one goal and score in the other!?
Or was Adkins way the real way and all this time everyone else has been wrong!?!?

So you mean someone was rusty and off the pace in a pre season friendly?

Shock and awe.

given that he plays in midfield and has probably never played cb is the reason i'd play him in midfield in a game and see what he can do against halifax in a few weeks

Is the Halifax game a first XI, does anyone know? Might drop by after work.

Seems he was played out of position as well. Diego would be running home in tears to his dad.

I hope the lad gets a chance in central midfield. He could be our answer to Vieira and Toure. :)

I ❤️ big central midfielders.

Didn't take CW long to start putting square pegs in round holes.

Not saying it's definitely the case with Shaunessy, but often young players are moved around and tried in different positions. Kyle Walker started as a forward, then later moved to RM and RB.

Not a case of a square peg in a round hole, but an undetermined shaped peg, being tested temporarily in a round hole.

Just makes more sense to me if you're trialling a player to play him in his best position. But maybe CW wanted to play him in a less familiar position to see how he reacts. Does he start crying about it or just get on with it and try his best? I think these things matter with CW

Yes, so do I. Hence the departure of De Boo Hoo Juve...

I think part of the problem can be that the player may not know his best position. He may have a familiar position, but a manager with X years experience could see potential in him in a different role.

Has anyone heard of a "utility player" ? They are useful at filling gaps where needed through suspension & injuries. Bashenbaur isn't too bad at this either having played CM, CD, RB and ball boy when needed.

At 6' 2" he could even end up being the target man if he is really versatile. He already knows where the nets are and how to find them.
