Chesterfield are thought to be monitoring Conor Dimaio with a view to brokering a temporary deal for the Steelphalt Academy graduate.

Sad to see him go, he's got some excellent attributes.

While I agree with you on that, is he really going to be anywhere near our first team in the near future? This is a real chance for him to play some first team football in this division and prove that he's worth a place in our squad.

He's got the potential (and I accept that it's unrealised) to be a classy defensive midfielder: he can put a foot in, he's tactically aware and his passing is generally good. His shooting from range is an added bonus.

However, as this is Sheffield United we'll not give him a chance to prove himself; instead we'll sign a 30-something year old on ten times his wages.

Get him on loan till the end of the season, see what he can do in this division. He needs to kick on now.

Part of a deal seeing Morsy come to the Lane? Defensive midfielder for defensive midfielder. Maybe.

I read it wrong, thought it said permanent! :oops:True, he's not near our first team and a loan would be a good move for him, providing they put him in the right role, not stick him at full back as cover or something.

To be fair I can't think of a youngster who we have let go that then went on to better things. If they're good enough they do usually get their chance.
I think Nicky law is doing well, I'm not sure though, I just hear his name a lot.

Dimaio's dad was posting on here last season claiming many at Shirecliffe were in disbelief that his son wasn't in our first-team. I think he was also a big fan of that kid that was Juve bound.

Loan move could suit both parties., Chezzy fans at my work hate Olly Banks in midfield so I reckon they'd be pleased to add a body in there.

Player exchange involving Morsey...... I can dream (that said the vast improvement in Coutts and Hammond would make selection difficult).

I was at the game, a great goal, but he was overshadowed by DDG (as all our team were) that day.

In terms of technical ability De Girolamo, Reed and Dimaio are maybe the best we've ever produced. It's a shame that we haven't (yet) seen too much of it for the first team.

I am not sure any of them will be first team regulars Bergen (Reed was for a short while)

Thats important Bergen I would think Adkins will have certain guarantee, s in place regarding Dimaio and one would be to play him in his right position. Good loan deal if it comes off.we have a few development players that need to go out on loan to get the feel of 1st team football

I'm absolutely sure - they won't. "Best we've ever produced...." I'd be worried if that was anything other than utter nonsense. They're heading nowhere but mediocrity. Northampton have asked to be informed about De Juve so they can arrange to be washing their hair on the day he becomes available.

Sorry, Bladey Blades. Keep on wishing on that star....

None of the current crop of academy prospects will be playing anywhere above where they are now. And if they do they'd be extremely lucky and rarely get in the first team. I can barely get my head around Reed being in the senior squad, let alone getting game time. The academy's been really disappointing recently. A shame because that was always one asset we had up our sleeves, it seems to have deteriorated in line with everything else.

Agree about Reed, not kicked on at all after early promise. If he was a senior professional who'd not come through the academy he'd be getting a slating form the fans for his performances.

DCL offers the chink of light I think though - now he's had a taste of league football, now is the time to see what he can offer.

Think you,re being unfair to young reedy he,s still only 18 years and 6 months so still got time to mature,he has fallen back a bit but only
Extra gifted players like Rooney, best, d law messie, renaldo and our own TC to name a few,go on without flat periods as young players

I agree to an extent but there's no rush with Reed. He's still very young and still growing. He's still got a lot of potential if he can bulk up and get some more strength.
DCL looks a great prospect though.

Kyle Walker
Kyle Naughton

Or do you mean ones that haven't broken into the first team?

Liban Abdi is currently playing for Levski Sofia who were in the Champions League qualifying rounds a couple of years ago
Jacob Mellis - maybe?!? He has ultimately ended up below us but for much of his career was higher than us in the pyramid

Aymen Tahar plays for Steaua Bucuresti.

Dimaio has apparently been suffering from 'off the field problems' (Keith Gillespie style) this last year or so, which might be the reason that he has not been around the first team.

Sad, if true, for one so young.

There seems to be crops of good young English players coming through at Premiership teams. Surly this should reflect down the leagues but it appears not to be?

Playing for Chesterfield's under 21's today, looks set to sign for them soon. Can't seem to get a link up.

Can anyone clarify whether any of the youngsters going out 'until the end of the season' or 'on a temporary basis' are getting loan moves in which they'll return, or whether they're being shipped out for good?

No. The club appears to be being deliberately obtuse over this. Or their press officer is an illiterate twat.
