Conor Coady

No way. He was outstanding Sunday. Showed passion, fight, and went barmy after scoring. Seems on a high and it would be a shame to detract from some of the team spirit by him going back.

Hope he stays too.

Just goes to show what a run in the first team can do for confidence. Think this thing about Cloughie's opinion is what matters. I recall the slating the likes of Murf and Flynn got many months ago, but now? And all because Nigel thought they had more to offer. Murphy was a real threat on Sunday, and taking the defender on with seconds ticking away, and putting it on a plate for Porter was a fantastic effort. I've commented before that there are moments when Coady can look naive, but with the right tutors he'll learn and develop. If we can sign him he's worth the chance.

I'm sure the words of wisdom and support that Clough and his team give the players is the key to the improvements we've all seen. Now we just have to transfer that level of performance into our league games. I love what the cup brings out in us, and it can only create what our French cousins refer to as esprit de corps. What the players have to do is take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror and ask what's been lacking in the league. They've shown what they are capable of, now's the time to step up to the plate and give their all........UTB

I thought it was done short term with a view to extending until the end of the season. But we all know what thought did.

I think he'll stay. As far as I can see we want to extend it, and he's openly admitted that he wants to stay here because he's enjoying it. It's all down to Liverpool I guess.

As I said a couple of weeks back, with his contract expiring at the end of the season I'd be keeping a very close eye on whether they want to keep him on. I'd like to see us offer him a deal and also hope that we'd be one of the first choices for him.

he's gotta stay for me, been a real positive of late and scoring some goals as well

I'm sure Cloughy said that both teams were in agreement that being with us is doing him the hell of good and that Liverpool were quite happy to let him stay with us but Cloughy wanted to do it on a month to month basis. Personally I would just sign him on the the end of the season now.

I have a feeling it was extended until his 21st birthday which means he comes under the youth loan system and the plan was for both parties to discuss a proper loan once the time comes around.
Yes, he's 21 a week today so presumably it becomes a full loan next Tuesday.

I think NC stated that we are close to signing him till the end of the season.

Would people sign him permanetly? I would give him a 1 year deal with the option to extend.

I think until the end of the season is fine. Clough is gonna have a big squad clearout and I suspect there may not be a place for the lad come August.

I think Coady is just the sort of lad we could do with to come with us on the journey. If he decides he can grow and develop better with us than at Pool.

If he was a product of our academy we would be waxing lyrical - he has the burden of coming from a top Prem team academy but I have seen a massive improvement in him since NC got hold of him. He is loving his football with the Blades and is the sort of lad you would want around the dressing room - bubbly, enthusiastic, energetic and now - getting in and amongst the goals.

Who would not want a goal scoring midfielder with an engine on him?

Yes. At 21 he has some definite potential and has grown in stature massively since being a regular. I'd go for more than a 1yr deal too.

I'd take him (even allowing for my loathing of all things scouse).

I thought he looked outstanding in his first cameo against Notts C in August. He faltered, along with the rest, after that but I think he's come on in the last few weeks (how many are we saying that about).
Have Liverpool given up on him or is the best we could hope for is a season loan next time?

Thought his contract was up with Pool at the end of the season.

I'd be staggered if a Champs League team (or at least an aspirational one) found room for a player of Coady's standard. He could be a good player one day soon, but he's miles away from what Liverpool need, and hasn't been a regular with us.

If he keeps up his current form I'd hope to get him for nowt after his contract expires.

Well he seems like a nice boy, but using Maguire who is the same age as a yard stick, whether he can make the step up to the Championship let alone the premiership is for me something only time will tell...

All the Liverpool I know absolutely rave about him, although the common comment is about his captaining England at youth levels.

As others have said, he's come on a lot this season, and I'd love to see him sign permanently.

3 year contract. He aint going to consider a short term contract and lets be honest Liverpool will put something on the table to someone who was the England U20 Captain. That is of course if Clough thinks he is good enough. In Nige we trust.

Can we just sign him for £500,000, with a loan till the end of the season and then permanent at the end of the season

He's really come on leaps and bounds over the last month or so and it's great that we've extended his loan, but lets be right about it he's been pretty average for 75% of the season and has struggled to hold down a starting place at League One level. Obviously he's still only young (although 21 isn't "that" young), but he's shown pretty much nothing to suggest he's going to come close to being good enough for Liverpool. I reckon he'd easily be available in the summer for a small-ish fee.

Having said that though I would definitely have him permanently if he can keep this form up. Could well be our "Lallana" as we look to rise up the leagues.
