Interesting if so and would certainly point to someone else with similar traits coming in. Personally, I like Washington - I thought he was excellent at Brentford and worked very hard at Reading.

Donnie would be a strange move for him unless he's desperate to get game time to put him in the shop window for next season and beyond.

I think it would be a far more sensible move for Smith IMHO - local club, a step-up, Utd able to keep a close-eye on his progress etc. hence my query.

He’s our 4th choice striker, and was only signed because we failed to get the quality in that we wanted in the summer. If we sign that quality, he’ll be even further down the pecking order. I think Washington compliments Leon the best - OK it was only the one game v Brentford, but Washington does endless running into the channels and that probably suits more Leon's game so Leon can be a target in the box. Sadly Leon's not been fit of late and Billy and Washington together is not ideal. Maybe if Leon gets fit soon we'll see Washington back alongside him.

Agree that Washington gives us something different with his pace and ability to get in behind/run the channels. But strikers need to score goals, he can't hit a barn door as his goal scoring record shows and I remember QPR fans commenting when he signed that his finishing is poor. Has no end product.

I don't remember Washington ever actually touching the ball, honestly.
I still think he's better than Sammon, who can control it further than I can kick it.
