We keep losing games and the only ever presents are Collins and Maguire - every other person in the squad has been tried all over the park and we are still useless. Why have "little Crewe Alexander stuffed us 3 nil?
Ok, so we don't have anyone else in the club to try in these positions.
Why do successive managers think that the sun shines out of their backsides?
They cannot now and never will be able to play together - change one or change both, but don't leave them playing together.
The loan windows opens soon - Mr Clough, go and get your chief scout of a brother to go and find at least one centre half, in the mould of Morgs who will actually be a REAL leader on the pitch.
We were certain to be relegated under Wier, and although we have certainly looked better under Clough, there is this soft centre to how we play and taking retribution as Doyle did against Fulham is just a cowards way out. We need hard footballers in the middle of the park who refuse to be intimidated by second rate teams such as Crewe. I mean no disrespect to Crewe, but why have they bossed us off the park today. It has been a complete waste of time, effort and money!
Rant over and UTB as usual.

One of them needs to be dropped and most of us have been saying that for a while.

They're not a big problem for me. I would look for a long term replacement for Collins but the bigger problem for me has been the full backs. We seem to have done something to address that so let's see how the new lads settle.

The midfield isn't nearly mobile and competitive enough generally but Scougall might help with that. Up front still light, still don't carry enough threat.

Centre half is not a priority area but that's just my opinion.

If we go down McGuire will be off anyway I presume.

We need a pacy centre half alongside Harry so we can defend higher up the pitch and press other teams.

We also need a pacy striker to make other teams defend deeper, with Paynter/Porter and Baxter up front they defend so high it's no wonder our centre halves and midfield never have any time on the ball...

How's it look based on goals scored?

Without doubt we're in this position for want of a decent forward line and have been ever since Evans got sent down.

Two good strikers would transform the current team into guaranteed a play off place next year. But we need to find them asap irrespective of wage demands, because without an increase in goals for, we look doomed I'm afraid.

I noted that Crewe have conceded the most goals in League 1, enough said !

Fair point, but as the old proverb states, if you dont concede goals you wont lose games. So for me you have to start at the back and get that solid first. and then look at the attack.

Not being dangerous going forward puts us under more pressure at the back.

The fact that our defence is comfortably top half suggests to me that it's easily good enough.

For me, a major problem is the lack of a real leader/enforcer in the middle of the park. As soon as I saw Coady and Scougall together on the teamsheet on Sat I suspected we would struggle as both are lightweights. That said, I still think we should be looking for a replacement for Collins as his defending at times gives me palpatations.

That's painful reading bearing in mind we didnt even score one against Crewe, does again highlight the goals for problem.
