Hi.... Heres some infop on pubs in Colchester for anyone making the journey down at the weekend.

If you are traveling into Colchester by train you will arrive at North Station..... (not Colchester town)...
A free bus service runs from near the station to the ground.

Here are the pubs within 10 mins walk of the Station.....

Out of North Station and Left at the roundabout is ...
The Bricklayers Arms....Adnams House..01206 852008
Very good pub... Ex CAMRA Town pub of the year ... Good selection of real Ale and food no TV but the recognised "Home fans" pub, but well behaved away fans are often welcome.

Out of the station and turn right under the bridge to a roundabout atraight across on the right is
"The Norfolk "..A GreenKing House. ...... 01206 545257
Modern style pub with Sky TV and pool table etc.. Up to 3 real Ales, food is served (very nice so I am told) Car park ....... The recognised "away fans" pub,

50 yards beyond the Norfolk on the next roundabout is
The Albert ....
Its a Beefeater ... er..... well if you want food.!!.

If you cross the roundabout and carry on for 100 yds there is ....
The Victoria Inn, Freehouse .... 01206 514510
CAMRA town pub of the year 2012 runner up. No Food but many fast food outlets nearby. NO TV or Pool. A proper Ale Pub with 5 real Ales. Run by Yorkshire Folk so Ale is served properly with bubbles on the top!!!!... Limited parking is available best to ring.

Other noted Ale Houses are..... Odd one out.... New Inn.... Ale House... Fat Cat (no connection with the Sheffield one) But are all on the other side of town.... but worth checking out if you are down for the weekend.

If you are traveling by car there is parking at the ground... Best to pre book I am told.
NOTE.... As this is a new "out of town " ground there are No pubs close by.

If you require any further info please PM me...... ColBlade

I like the cut of colblade's jib - clearly a man with his priorities in the right order..

Here's Walth - in the Blind Beggar natch - yesterday Col.

Now, I KNOW Olle has seen this thread, yet he hasn't commented. Are we sure he's not been banned?

Am ere MoD me owd spadge - dunt be wurryin thi sen.

I just bumped a previous thread http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/hello-from-colchester.25688/ up as it had info.

Last Jan (before the game was cancelled) I phoned the Bricklayers and the landlord informed me that there would be door men and no away fans. He was a patronising arse too.

Victoria Inn sounds like a good shout. Then either the bus or taxi up to the ground.

Oh and thanks for the info ColBlade - I'll buy you a before if you're around?

Nowt as tight as Yorkshire folk Kenny me owd mucker!!?

(I meant to put beer)

The Victoria will be open from 11 am on Saturday, I will be there just ask the barstaff they all know me!

New ground for me on Sat - how much do you reckon a taxi is from Colchester station?

Taxi from the Victoria to the ground is £6.80 ... or 7 mins walk to the shuttle bus service which is a quid or so.

The pub near the Station... Bricklayers Arms... will most likly be home fans only which leaves....

The Norfolk arms ... Livley pub with Sky TV/Pool etc...
or
The Victoria .. Traditional Ale house No TV or Pool table

Just been to ticket office at Col UTD.... Sold 700! Very poor show by Blades.

You might be unaware there is a recession up north and unemployment is rising in Yorkshire and Humberside

It is hardly the most exciting of prospects is it? 3rd tier football, out of town atmosphere-less station (which many will have visited last season), two poor teams and a long journey. Throw in a recession, high unemployment, a disappointing season last season, an even more disappointing summer, the fact that we cannot afford to pick certain players and will (probably) sell another of our best players before the end of August and then you're not looking on hordes travelling down to East Essex. 2 seasons ago in the Championship, we took 328 fans to Ipswich (though we were playing awful at the time). I don't think 700 is that bad!

See you tomorrow anyway colblade! :)
