Not a great revelation of course, who wouldn't want to keep a player of John's quality at this level?

I read it on www.vitalfootball.co.uk, but they reported it from a Radio Sheffield interview Nigel gave them.

Just good to know that Cloughie will do his best to keep our superb attacking right back.

Straight swap for the manager, they'll be after a new one come the summer.

Think they paid 1.5 m. If they stay up I'd think they'd sell him for 750k-1m.
If they go down they may even keep him

Either way, I doubt we could get him

Chin up SwissBlade , Cloughie, like all of us, knows what we have in Brayford. Of course there are lots of questions that need to be answered, but if Brayford could be bought don't you think Nigel would push the boat out to secure his signature?
It's clear Brayford's enjoyed his stay here, whether he'd want another season in this division is another thing. As I say, lots of unanswered questions, but if we could get him it'd be a serious coup for the Blades, and it's show the club's intentions for next season. UTB

When is his contract up? If he has a year or less left he wouldn't cost more than £500k. Salary will be the big issue finance wise. The main issue may well be the other offers he gets as his form with us will not have gone unnoticed.

Yep, you've just about summed up what we'll be up against SEB. If memory serves me right, I think he might have another two and a bit years left on his contract with Cardiff, so if we have to pay the figure you've suggested or even more, Brayford's worth every penny. This summer has been built up as the moment when we clean the boards of players we no longer want, while bringing in a new influx of players. Surely no one needs convincing just how good Brayford is?

Yes, I know we need a couple of forwards, good players who will exploit the attacking possibilities Clough has brought to this club. But surely there's no doubt that in Brayford we have a defender who can bring so much to what we as supporter's want to see? The guy is about as considered a player that I can recall wearing the red and white stripes. His all round game is first rate, and that sort of quality has raised the game of those around him. It really is a no-brainer.....Brayford is a must if there's any possibility of signing him. If I read we'd paid £1.2million for him I would be delighted that the club had shown that type of initiative.
Quality costs, and John Brayford makes us a better team. UTB!

In his mid 20's so I doubt he wants to hang around in this league. If Cardiff go down they will certainly want to keep him. If they stay up we may have 10% chance of keeping him but it's still wishful thinking. He will more than likely make a championship move.

NC May convince him to stay for one more season, and a tilt at promotion. If he carries on with the levels of performance at the moment, it won't do him any harm long term. And if championship level is his aspirations, he'll allready be there with us.

Everyone can see what NC is trying to do by raising the quality of the squad, but reducing the numbers at the same time. Money saved on reducing the numbers can then go towards raising the quality

However, pre-season is where we get to find out just how supportive Mr HRH is. It's ok NC wanting those players to improve us and convincing them to join, but none of that can happen without some financial clout

We've all been waiting to see the resolve of Mr HRH and that time is fast approaching

Brayford may be convinced that his future is at BL, but it wont come without a cost. Perhaps the cup run revenue will help to fund a couple of permanent signings and then Mr HRH dipping his toe in a little further to get us a promotion chasing squad is all it will take.

UTB

Ya never know what can happen. The manager, whoever that will be next season, may not fancy him. Just cos he has a contract and cost good money doesn't mean they wouldn't send him out on loan again with us paying a chunk of his wages.
If he's not in their plans then why not?
Get promoted then maybe sign him up on a permo. It's a funny old game!

Get him to have a chat with tony kenworthy, just read his book and he recommends players stay where they are happy.
