Apologies if its already been posted but a small piece in the paper highlighting the fact that Chris wilder has completed a remarkable 102 points in his 46th. Match of the year (equivalent to a full season). Congratulations to him and Alan Knill.

It's often easy to overlook the contribution of Alan Knill but it's worth remembering that quite often successful managerial tenures are the result of strong partnerships. I think Alan Knill is a brilliant assistant, as well as a thoroughly decent bloke who I've had the privilage of meeting.

What a combination we have in Chris Wilder and Alan Knill. This partnership blossomed before they came to BDTBL so this is no one off by any means and should we achieve promotion this very season then our management team will become visible on the wanted radar of other clubs.

Having said that, I said before that once in a while a manager will find himself at the right club at the right time and I think that Chris Wilder has found that place particularly at the club he loves. The key to keeping that harmonious combination going and growing is of course down to the board. In that I mean giving him the tools to compete at whatever level we are at and the rest will follow.

Build it and they will come.

They've always been known as a Wendy Rag. The "Save our Bacon " proved that beyond any doubt when nothing was shown for us going into the 4th division.

My one doubt is the Derby/Clough situation - Derby became average in the Championship and shipped Clough out - we should all ask ourselves what do we want from CW & AK as we may find ourselves in a similar situation.

I think there is a mountain of work for Wilder and Knill to get through to achieve Championship stability. Let's get to that level then reappraise our goal.

I've heard plenty of people say Sheffield Wednesday nil.

On the very popular thread 'old Photographs....' there was a mention of the Four Tops greatest song. 'Still Waters' reminds me of Alan Knill.

It's a compelling question.

I think that if we find ourselves in the 2nd tier next season then barring a major disaster, we need to have Wilder here for the long haul. It's been club policy to pull the trigger on managers very quickly since Warnock left, sometimes rightly, sometimes wrongly. What's more, many supporters have started to take on the same knee-jerk attitude.

I don't think that any manager other than Adams, Weir and Robson should've been sacked so soon. I want Wilder here for at least as long as Warnock because I firmly believe that at the very least he will keep us on a path of stability in the Championship and put us in a position from which to build.

Years ago. Times have changed maybe, we will see, hopefully next season.

It was probably more a case of bravado to get fans onside - sadly, it back fired a bit. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that to get out of the Championship is going to take a lot of investment (like our S6 neighbours) or shrewd investment with a management team like CW, AK and the fella from Chezzer who "finds" players that are a bit different.

Quite happen with what we have - but patience is going to be tested and not convinced some of our fans have patience.

Massively impressed by Chris Wilder. Enjoy his honest interviews and actually like the fact nobody has a friggin clue about transfer activity until a player signs!

We've already come a long way under his stewardship. Fairwell the days of listening to Adkins waffle on and having to rely on 'tweets' from Jim Phipps.

I attended 1 game all last season, yet purchased a season ticket shortly after Wilder was announced as the new gaffer.

Keep it going Chris! Lead us to the title

yes you have a point. I was basing it more on when we go up, we are going to have to give CW and AK time in that division. My posts previous were generally about Clough/Derby where they got fed up of him after 4 average years in the division where he had loads of debt/high wage players to get rid of. Derby fans just wanted rid when he didn't do a bad job considering the circumstances.

Our lot are going to have to be patient in just letting CW build a team against other clubs that seem to have vast amounts of money to waste - which I do not believe we have even with the Prince. CW HAS to be allowed to build the team organically as against being able to chuck money at the problem.

I can just see the forum - 14 months from now with some on here giving it big wanting £10M signings.

It's the first time since Dave Bassett where a manager is so honest and says it how it is.

Remember Danny Wilson, Adkins and Clough often bigging up the opposition
Even when we played well down the league table.
In pre match interviews they would say "oh it will be a really tough game", "they are in a false position"
"Ive watched them a few times and they are really good" "we'll try to get a result to stay in contention"
"There's a lot of expectation at Bramall Lane which can make it difficult for the players to express themselves"

Wilder says stuff like
"They are near the bottom so we should win, but this will only happen if we respect the opposition, focus and prepare properly", "We are at a stage where we concentrate on our own performance and we know that if we bring our A game we should pick up all 3 points no matter how the opposition play"
"Having a big crowd can work 2 ways, if we struggle and don't give 100% effort then it can work against us
However if we give the fans something to shout about then our support is a big asset"

Also even when when we win he's still able to give fair negative criticism towards his own team.
Really pleased for Wilder and Knill. Their reputation in lower league football is now very high and they are gauranteed jobs at league 1 and league 2 level for life.

Agree wth some other comments don't think there's any worry of losing Wilder is the next few years if we get to the Championship this season because PL clubs won't be interested in him as his name isn't sexy enough and he's not foreign.

The only concern is that a league 1 or 2 club could offer Alan Knill a full managers job and you never know he might be interested, although I suspect we will be paying him decent wages where a lower league club couldn't compete.

I agree, but please do not overlook the contribution made by our fitness coach. Look at the difference the extra fitness he has made to Coutts & co and how we have been able to run the opposition off the park. This has contributed to the high proportion of our goals scored in the last 25 minutes of games.
