Minor fault. Pretty sure his birthday is wednesday because blader shares the same birthday :D

Some of the punters on one of the Hibs boards got all excited at Lee Hendire. They were soon put straight.

He's only 35

I don't think he was referring to his age

You're right Highbury, I wasn't. Ade peaked around about the time he left United and he was never the best player anyway. I actually liked him as a player, I always felt he made up for a lack of skill with effort and power but lets be realistic.....

The only contract he is going to get now is in League Two or below. He hasn't played serious competitive stuff for at least 18 months now surely?!

Its not his age at all....even if he was 39 but had been getting the odd goal in League One last season I would still say he's worth a punt for someone....its more about the fact that no one has wanted him for the last 2 years so why doesnt he just retire?! He must have more than enough money by now!

Personally, I think we could do a lot worse than Darius Vassell. He's got pace, skill, experience and was an England regular only 6 years ago. If he's on a free and without a club, you would think that he would be willing to compromise on wages. Worth a 1 year contract?

I'll bet he would be about as useful as that other Darius that was on Pop Idol a few years back.
Not worth a bean if you ask me.
Need someone younger and fitter for that role.
If we need experience then we need it in midfield like another McCall.
We have plenty of experience up front with Creswell and Hendo, when fit. No pace like, but Vassell probably wouldn't find the back of the net anyway given his most recent record.

Haven't you not learnt Dave??? Thar a fooking 'clapper' or a 'knocker'. And If tha an ultra 'knocker' then you might get in the 'sunshine band'

Yeah but no but yeah but, don't go giving me evils. Got an extra 2 hours to knock saturday god bless the early kick off.

Febian Brandy would be worth a look. Quick, and coming from ManUre may well have a bit of quality. Would be a bit of a gamble as is unproven but is someone I wouldn't grumble at. I also wouldn't have minded signing Kerrea Gilbert for much the same reasons. Sam Hewson also may be worth a look, maybe even Anderson De Silva (although thought he had re-signed at Barnsley?) Vas Te fits the pacey part but not sure if enough quality, also think he's signed for a greek team?

I dont think any footballers are willing to compromise on wages....hence the stand-off between clubs and players this transfer window. Even at a compromise Vassell would be expensive. I would imagine he's been on 30k upwards most of his career and more recently at least 20-30k.

Assuming a "compromise" would be to ask for half of that....so 10-15k at an estimate....at the wrong side of 30 (which I think he is now) I would be worried about United paying him that. He hasnt exactly been prolific in his career either. I doubt he's ever scored 20 in a season. I'm not saying Darius Vassel is a bad player because he's not, but a player of his calibre/experience would want a lot of money. He doesnt have to play for peanuts as he's probably loaded already.

Ive heard/read a few names mentioned in regard to strikers this weekend and not one has got me excited. Either has been's or never been's in regard to scoring goals and I dont think there is a great deal wrong with the strikers we have got. The wide positions are the ones that need strengthening.

Nah, let the Pigs have him. Then they can have Brandy and Coke.
A wuss's drink for a set of ponces, sound perfect to me.

Wilfred bouma would make a decent left back at this level.

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeef's available!

Hehe, Akinbiyi and Adamson on the same page. I'm sure we all remember Hillsborough and Ade's finest moment, that wonderful volley past Plugalike Adamson...

Aliadiere.... Ex Arsenal??

Shame you can't add players onto that list!!

We need more players with daft or reight good names.

Clint Easton.. or Francis Jeffers.... or the best one... Barrington Fucking Hayles!!!! Neil Warnock's best ever signing

I'm aware that the thread title is there for effect, but whilst on the subject.... If anyone thinks Mr Speed is the cheap option... they should see his payslips! :D

Wasn't Robson on half a mill? Anywhere near that?

so how much is cheap as chips mark II getting paid???

I saw a wage slip for the 3rd choice keeper at a Premier League club a couple of weeks ago. This is a guy who has played 9 PL games in the last 10 years. The wages made my eyes water, especially the £5k a week loyalty bonus - he signed for his current club just over a year ago. The game is really stupid.

don't tell me that Tricky Trev has thrown in some JJB vouchers, with the packet of KP peanuts and YOP yoghurt drink!!!? McCheap hired Birch because he is supposed to be commercially savvy .... does he not realise we are skint!?

How much do you reckon Tricky is on? I'd say around £300k per annum which is certainly a sign of large commercial savvy in my book!! Easy, easy money! Not that I'm saying I could do it I may add, you have to pay for quality/experience but I'd love to know what he does day to day. I suppose it is the insolvency knoweldge we are paying for.

No Mic, although he does have knowledge of that, I think we are paying for his skills in delivering investment against he odds. Lets not forget that Chelsea was a bit of a turd before he snared Abramovich. He could have taken over any club he wanted, but happened to go for the one that Birch was at.

In terms of what he does day to day, have you not met any Corporate Financiers? I reckon it will be much the same, but with operations responsibilities bolted on. I reckon he is probably the busiest man at the club.
