Stan James have us priced up at 18/1 this season. Looks as though the layers are predicting mid table mediocrity for us this year, and I'd have to agree.

I would personally be tempted by Reading at 10's. IF they pick up where they left off last season.

Thoughts?

forest,leicster,reading.thats my tip

Both Leeds and Norwich were too good for league 1 last season and could be a bit of value

I think Reading's great run of form was partly down to having nothing to play for, similar to our run when Blackwell took over and nearly got us into the play-offs. I can't see them carrying it on when it matters - and no side with Brian Howard in it will get promoted.

Think Burnley are dreadfully short at 10s. Don't think they've got a chance.

Reading had an outside shout for the play offs at one point plus they were on that cup run so i wouldn't say they had nothing to play for. I have to agree about Howard, but they've other very good players to call on.

Burnley are pretty short, but they will score plenty of goals and they will be there or thereabouts

Reading didn't finish all that well - 4 wins from their last 11.

Boro must've outspent the rest of the division combined and it'll be interesting to see what happens if they don't start well. If they do click early on, they could run away with it.

I think Bristol City could do well if they can hold onto Maynard and Coppell sorts the back 4 out.

I think Millwall could be a surprise package and would back them to be the top promoted club.

I know that some of our football compilers fancy Leeds to go down at a big price. There's no money available, the locals are revolting (in so many ways) and they've signed Neill Collins. Expecting big fat Billy Paynter to replace a 30 goal front man is a big ask. They only won 8 games in the second of the season as well, not great in the 3rd division. Fingers crossed.

Agree on Leeds. They're a poor poor side.

I think Boro and Burnley will be there or thereabouts. I'd have gone QPR, but I've been surprised by how poor their signings in general have been.

That said, the league is nowhere near as good as last season and is wide open for any team who takes it by the neck.

Really? Colin has done what I always thought he did here.

18/1 would be fine odds if Hoofy can be outed before November. That'd probably drop it 6 points in one go.

Boro are turning into Scotland Reserves. Could be interesting if Boyd can score in the Championship.

That's an astounding price on QPR and I'd expect those odds to shorten. Round about Novemebr when their managers' head is turned by the next "last big challenge" when Billy Davies or Simon Grayson get the bullet after a poor start.

18's is generous for you guys.

Middlesborough for me.

Generous? Don't you mean stingy? I'd realistically place us upwards of 30/1. I'm certainly not buying at 18/1.

What were Wednesday's odds of promotion last season? Probably similar to ours this season...

That's a bit silly, isn't it? The only circumstances "Hoofy" will get sacked before November is if we are languishing in or around the relegation spots. That's a hell of a lot of ground to make up.

That's why it's BEFORE November. Plenty of time to turn things around.

I don't think we'd need to be around the drop zone. Just playing LIKE last season could well be enough to see him gone.

Still silly. Playing like last season could well be enough to see him gone before November? Really??
