For those of you, like me, that prefer to play the old 2001/02 edition of Championship Manager, you may be interested to know that the people who run the website champman 01/02 are selling an updated patched version of the game with up to date data. The link above is where it can be bought on ebay and no, I'm not on commission or anything.

So you can now satisfy yourself by setting about dismantling the current squad!

PS - I've tried to paste in a screenshot of Che Adams from the game but it hasn't worked.

It's been free for a number of years now and gets two updates a year I think. Don't pay anyone on eBay for it!

Best CM by far, it's gone to shit in recent years (although I still buy it) and Miles Jacobsen is an absolute thundercunt.

I know you can get it for free Wards and Flawed but if you are useless at navigating the downloads and patches like me, then it's a godsend! And I agree, it was the best one IMO for playability. I've got one of the more recent Football Manager games and I never play it because it's TOO involved - chuffin' press conferences and all that, it takes an actual week of playing to get from one match to the next!

Theres a classic mode on fm that gets rid of all that rubbish.

I stopped playing when they changed to football manager, can't remember the year. But like you I got put off by how involved it was. Telling players where to take throw ins ffs!

Think it was from 2005. I got CM 03-04 and I think that was the last before the split between eidos and SI games. The CM series after that was very poor but as you say, there's just too much involvement. I've just played a whole season in just two days on my 15/16 updated 01/02 version, that's how I like it!
