I look through a lot of these threads and we all talk about different players either doing it or not doing it -job/form/commitment etc. Walker/Monty/Quinny/Harper/Evans/Cresswell, Nearly all the squad.
Not that much mention of OUR CAPTAIN FANTASTIC CHRIS MORGAN.
Are we taking him for granted? I think he is the best in the division. Give me him above Killa or any other CB in the division. He not only captains and gives confidence to those playing alongside him; he has done some fantastic sliding blocks recently. He has also developed better distribution than most of our other defenders when he gets it down at his feet.
If he had been around in the 2nd world war the Battle of Britain would never have happened, Hermann Goering would never even have tried. Imagine that Hurricane Spitfire and Morgan as your air defence.

I couldn't agree with you more on this Boo. I thought Morgan was fantastic satdi. More so as he was deliberately elbowed by Robson (number 17) on more than one occassion and he didnt rise to the bait - I think that shows just how far he has come. The Morgan of a few years ago would have bitten and got (in all probability) sent off. We are lucky to have the granite-hued colossus in our team.

Morgan is Morgan. Mr consistent, he does his job adequately and goes home.
Over the last 18 months his performance level has improved to being a very good defender at our level. He isn't exceptional if he was he wouldn't be here but we are lucky to have him while ever he maintains this level of performance and consistency.

The difference in the last couple of seasons is that he's cut out the cynical stuff and a lot of the silly fouls in and around the box. I'm sure the Hulme incident also made him think twice about certain aspects of his game.

I thought this might be a thread about rum and it's different types and quality. If so, Appleton V/X, Mount Gay Eclipse, Havana Club 15Yr Old, Appleton Extra, Cruzan Single Barrel, J. Bally 1976, Wray & Nephew Overproof to name but a few which are all far superior to Captain Morgan (and also far more expensive :D).

Can't complain about THE captain though. For every mistake he makes he more than makes up for it in many other ways. Be a scandal if he's not in the CCC team of the season if he continues for the rest of the season as he has in the first half.

Can you imagine not having him? Now i know he may get suspended from time to time but we are so much better with him.
Sorry FB but i don't agree he is developing still and giving so much more than just turning up and doing his job.
He may not be exceptional to other teams but our leader is setting bigger and bigger examples.

There's an interview with Morgs on the PFA site today:

Sheffield United’s Chris Morgan sets his sights on automatic promotion

After a sluggish start to the season, Sheffield United are gradually edging closer to the play-off places after losing just one of their last 12 games.

The Blades are currently in 6th place in the Championship table after a 1-0 win at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday. And with a number of influential players now back from injury, and talk of money being made available to spend this month, there is every reason for the United fans to view the second half of the campaign with optimism.

Givemefootball’s Mark Shail spoke exclusively to inspirational skipper Chris Morgan.

You must be pleased with the recent form after a slow start to the season?

Yes, it wasn’t as if we were playing badly at the start of the season, we just weren’t getting the results. October and early November was a difficult time for us but from December through to now things have turned around and we’re on a decent run.

What do you put the upturn in form down to?

Well, earlier in the season we were just going through one of those patches where nothing was going right for us and we had no luck at all – for example we lost against Newcastle because of a deflected goal. But it is how you deal with it and come out of it and we’ve kept going, stayed positive and continued doing the right things.

Apart from runaway leaders Newcastle, the other automatic promotion place appears to be up for grabs?

Definitely, in the past few years the teams in the top two at Christmas have usually been there again at the end of the season but things can change quickly. If a team is capable of having a push towards the end then anything is possible. We’re now in a decent position, obviously we’d like to be higher, but we’ve crept in under the radar a little bit.

Do you expect any new additions in January?

You get a lot of talk in the media about possible signings but we have been given no indication that anything concrete will happen. We’ll just have to wait and see but at least we’ve got some of our injured players coming back now.

Which side has impressed you the most this term?

To be honest, we have played Leicester twice and they have really impressed me. They beat us on Boxing Day and looked a well organised, compact side. It just shows what a side can do if they come up from League One with some momentum. Who knows? – they could be another Wigan and all credit to Nigel Pearson, he is doing a fantastic job.

Morgs has been a different player since the Hume incident. He's refined his game so that he still brings an intimidating commanding character to the pitch but leaves that rash, thuggish style behind him. He's been player of the season for me this year and i really rate him! One of my favourite players to pull on a blades shirt ever!

Yeah he is a captain fantastic. Gives 100% every game and has cut out the silly tackles and leads by example. We are lucky to have such a good captain and long may his form continue
