Can you remember where you were 22 years ago this weekend? And can we do it again?

22 years this weekend was the 5th May 1990.

We needed a win for promotion. The Pigs needed to avoid defeat or they'd face the worst...

We all know what happened next...

Can it happen again? Believe it and it WILL...

PS...Make sure you've a copy of this if it does for any pig fan you know...
... those who were around the first time round will know why... :)

Would feel happier if Deane & Agana were our forward line for Saturday !

Possibly the best ever blades away day, I was in the low terrace along the side of the ground.

Where was I? 3 minutes 12 seconds in I was in the middle of that clip, on the pitch at Leicester.

:D

I predict that we'll be in the top 2 at some point on Saturday but just like the 'surge' under Blackwell, I fear it won't last but................you never know.

Agree with this. The only questions when we do get there are:

-will Wendy crumble under the pressure
-will we????

I'm not torturing myself with any of these what if's. There's no way the pigs wont beat Wycombe. It's the play-off's for us.

They're a very strong physical team and I just think they'll put too much pressure on Wycombe and it's likely to tell. I had the displeasure of watching the Oldham game and whilst Oldham probably played the better football in the 1st half and had the best chances, Wendy just overpowered them in the 2nd half and I can see the same kind of game on Saturday. If Wycombe score 1st then maybe, but if they don't, I can only see one outcome.

Was down in Walthamstow. It was very hot and windows open during night. Heard some armature twats breaking in to my car - side window. had to get it fixed before we travelled up for the game. What a day. Dug a little Leicester turf up and planted it as a souvenir. Long gone now.
Paul Wood played, we got him from Exeter.

I would have been on the pitch at Filbert Street but I was on the upper tier behind the goal.

Awesome day! Who remembers all the car horns on the M1 on the way home?!

About 15 feet away from the 'baby squad' getting coins chucked at us, my favourite blades day.

Playing cricket up Dore unfortunately......although i remember no-one was actually that bothered about the cricket :-)

Brighton, surely? He played and scored agaisnst us in another epic that season, the 5-4 win over them.?

I think your right. sorry. Where did I get Exeter from? maybe I got mixed up with Steve Neville

I was down the side of the pitch in the low stand opposite the players tunnel. After the game, I joined everyone on the pitch and managed to ruffle Harry's hair while everyone was hoisting him round on their shoulders.
Undoubtedly my favourite moment as a Blade coming during a monumentous year for me. I was 19 years old and could do no wrong!!!
It was great when we got back home and there was an uneasy standoff round the bar football table in one of my locals (White Lion, Chesterfield Road) between us and the pigs who as you all know were managed by Ron Atkinson and had just got relegated. The tetchy silence was broken by one Blade who stood up and started singing the following song to the tune of "da do ron ron":-
"The Forest went to Hillsborough and they beat the pigs,
you're down Ron, Ron, Ron, you're down Ron, Ron.
......................................................................................
Oh, division 2. Oh, that's the place for you. Oh, division 2,
you're down Ron, Ron, Ron, you're down Ron, Ron"!:D

I honestly thought that you guys who are going to Exeter would have a day like that. Could still happen but I doubt it.

I was in Leicester ........................... but can't remember why !

Great day out that was. Went to Sheffield from Midlands. Got onto the coach with the lads down to Leicester.
On the pitch at the end. Back in the coach to Sheffield then back home to the Midlands again after that.
It would have taken me 40 mins to drive to Leicester from home but the atmosphere is what makes it special.

I was in the low terrace down the side of the pitch and finished up on the pitch at the final whistle. I didn't want to be on the pitch, but I had no choice carried by a wave of jubilant Blades. The Police kept trying to get us off the pitch and we were telling them to do one, when one bizzy came up to a group of about ten of us and said, 'If I tell you something to make your day even better will you clear off the pitch?'
'Bollocks copper, nothing makes today any better'
'This will'
'goo on then, but you're pissing in the wind'
'Wednesday lost to Forest, meaning you are replacing them in the top division!'
'Bollocks!'
'True!'
(passing Blade with a radio) 'Fucking pigs are down! Hahahahahahahahaahahaha'
'You win copper, we're off to the boozer' :D

Me and my brother were on the Leicester Kop that day. A lass he knew at Leicester uni had aquired us a pair of tickets, but we didnt realise they were for their kop until we turned up. We were cacking it a bit, but it turned out to be brilliant as hundreds of fellow Blades had aquired tickets for their Kop as well. It was as good a day as it could ever be, finished off with us driving to the NEC from Leicester to meet our mates and the missisus to see the rock band Heart, who were brilliant. Ah halcyon days.

Er, we got Wood from Brighton - is was Steve Neville that joined us from the Grecians

I was stood on the seats on the side of the pitch (fans kept invading the pitch throughout the game). That day my dad was suffering from a painful ear infection and I had to keep a watch on him because he kept falling off the seat he was stood on due to crowd surges causing him to cringe with the pain in his ear!

I was down the side with a friend and his wife also her dad. Her dad was a season ticket holder at both the lane and the sty but was more pig than blade. He had a bad feeling about their game so came to Leicester with us. Think he may have been the only one in there with a sad face. What a happy day that was.

Wood signed from Brighton and Hove Albion.

I was at home with my dad watching Grandstand. He's not a Blade so wasn't in the business of taking me to away games. Shame...

I remember reading the Playfair Football Annual to calm my nerves, but when news came through of the fifth goal I chucked it up in the air and nearly smashed a light fitting. Got a bollocking for that. :)
