Can This Team Go Up?

Unfortunately no. I want to belive it can but I'm struggling to see how we are suddenly going to start to boss teams

There are so many players in our first team squad, but many are of a similar standard in each position. Goodness knows which is our best starting eleven, and it would take a year to perm eleven from twenty five.

We need a settled side to start a decent winning run, to secure a play-off berth, top two looks pie in the sky now?

I keep thinking every week we will start a long unbeaten run but alas not yet.

I enjoyed Doncaster away.

I find it interesting that I, and a handful of others, expressed these feelings in August. However, due to us saying realistic things, and not the usual 'we'll piss the league' blind/deluded pre-season attitude of many others, we were berated and brushed aside as 'knockers' 'pessimists' or whatever other name we were called.

I think it's fair to say our concerns have been proven correct. I Am disappointed by our league position, but had resigned us to a playoff challenge once I saw our signings. We had a terrible summer, and this has cost us automatic promotion. the lack of a proven striker was inevitably going to be our downfall, and the most ridiculous thing is we did nothing about it in the January just gone. Until we sign a 15+ goals a season striker we will never get promoted out of any league. I don't know where the blame lies, but alarm bells rang when Higdon was our 'marquee' signing!! Poor again from the blades, but why should we expect any different nowadays? Anyway, I look forward to Murphy being sold for 500k, being replaced by some other no-mark but then being slagged off when we criticise the club again.. Rinse and repeat....
Still think the club were taken aback and expected Evans to be a shoe in and didn't have a plan B

Yes, we can go up as we have a big squad and the hard pitches in April and May will suit our style of play.

And what are we going to do until April, keep losing? There's no magic potion, teams aren't going to roll over for us and unless they do, we've no chance of going up.

Think the next 6 weeks will be a mixture of wins (at home) and losses (due to poor pitches away from home) and then when we find the right formula we will go on an unbeaten run on dry and hard pitches

Why? Our home form's been pretty average also. I think it's time a few realised, we really aren't any better than a dozen other average teams in this God awful league.

We have lost only one league match at home in 3 months and that was against MK Dons who admitted they were lucky. We have been unlucky in the drawn matches after dominating them (apart from the first half against Oldham). Looking at our remaining 10 home games I reckon we will win most of them

We've been unlucky in the home games we've drawn? How so? We go away and play for a draw but can't manage it, teams come to our place and their game plans work.

Nowt to do with luck mate, just bad tactics and poor execution. Average team with a limited tactician at the helm, we're just a soft touch in this poxy division.

If this makes you happy, carry on with your negative outlook for the rest of your life!

WTF? Who said owt about being happy? I'm sick as a fucking dog about how this season's turning out so get off your high horse. Your argument carried no water so stop playing the wounded warrior.

FFS, no wonder we're in the shit, some of you would be happy no matter how much crap we're in.

I was in SB yesterday (Linz made the negative-minded ones behave a lot better!) and I was feeling sick when Gills scored with 4 mins left, I was feeling really angry that we didnt get anything from yesterday's match, a hour later I calmed down, looked at the rest of the fixtures and from the experience of my 45 years of being a Blade fan, very often after a rude awakening, the team do bounce back and then go into a good run as long as the team get good backing . 20 years ago I would be feeling angry and go into a sulk for much longer than a hour and carry on overreacting for too long!

After 55 years supporting the Blades I've come to the conclusion that the club will do what it does. Think the backing that this club receives is second to none, and look where we are. It's not really about being all happy and smily, nor all sulky and morose, we're not doing well at the moment and our season's in danger of imploding.

If you think we'll have enough to last until our miraculous winning run on the lush 3rd division surfaces of April and May then go for it. I hope against hope that we do it, but our recent record and awful style of play suggests otherwise.

Its no good pressing the panic button as you say . Mr Clough is the right man , but this is the season to get promoted. Next season imo will be even harder . If we have to bring in 1 or 2 loan players then so be it . We are just a couple of players missing from being a really good side . Mr Clough for some reason missed the boat in the JTW for a couple of strikers , although lets hope the bloke from Rochdale will turn us around up front.

Mr Clough will sort this out , even for his own pride and self respect , but todays performance was totally unacceptable . The younger players will excel with having support from the more senior pros , and again it is a worry , that this appears not to be happening . It was apparent again today . No wonder Mr Clough has to shout and bawl from the touch line , with continual instructions , because none of the senior players seem unable to take any responsibility .Whats missing is a strong organiser and leader on the pitch . More questions than answers , and its down to Mr Clough and his back-room staff to resolve it.

If we get in the play offs i am 100% certain we will win them. The thing is , can we get there.

Not a good day , i don't mind losing , but today just showed we were weak in every department.

How will we win over 2 games against MKD or Swindon or Preston ?

If we were to somehow get into the play-off places we have more chance of catching a cold than beating one of those three with our current squad !

And who is going to do the miraculous and score goals for us ?
Because, as we have seen all this season in the League ...... you CANNOT win games if you cannot score goals.

In the League, we have been shit at home all season, have only dominated one game ( Gillingham ) and have spectacularly failed to cause other league 1 sides major problems, due to our ineffective tactics, lightweight players and the unbelievable decision to allow a 3rd year to go by without buying a decent striker or two !

We will get into the play offs as long as the fans fully back the team (Sacking Wilson just before the play offs in 2013 was a big mistake) and we will have a good team ready for the play offs. This wont happen if Phipps and Baki succumb to the pressure from the noisy minority

Don't agree, should have sacked him at the end of the first season.

Yep, just keep on sacking, its worked for us thus far hasn't it? When will we realise that sacking managers gets us nowhere. Fans just chuck teddies out the pram at the manager and exert so much pressure chairmen act out of haste. If I thought for one minute Wilson was a dud I would have agreed but he did everything he could have. It wasn't his fault his top scorer went to prison and then his back up plan got injured. It also wasn't his fault he had Blackman sold from under him the season after. We were top of the league until we did that piece of monumental business.

Football is decided on fine margins generally. Had Ched kept it in his pants that night we wouldn't be having this conversation, nor if Blackman hadn't been sold.

It was Wilsons fault that he couldn't get a team in the third tier with premiershipship players promoted.

Never should have had the job, fuck me we are all complaining about how shite we are and Barnsley are below us, that's how good he is.

Out of interest how did we do with those "Premiership Players" in the Championship before Wilson arrived? Oh yeah we got relegated they were that good.
