To Be Honest I'd be happy with that, £500, 000 isn't bad money for an ex-England international.
and champions league winner:)

Only a 50% exaggeration? You're slacking, Sharpy!! ;)
He is on far more than 15k a week. He is a greedy crap overated fart, do you really think he will accept a wage decrease? I bloody hope not so he can bugger off somewhere else.

And 30k a week 30 yr old birmingham reject.
You never stop do you Sharpy? As soon as any player hits 30 you think that's end of their career, how would you react if we signed Ronaldinho in his 30's?

This is nicky butt the Birmingham and Newcastle reject not the worlds greatest player.

And yes i do dislike us signing old players. It completly defies the objective of the academy.

Every team needs a mix of Experience and youth.
Last season we got that right and it got us promoted.
Why is it so bad buying experience?
You can't get knowledge without someone to learn off and the academy players need people to learn off or they will never develop.

so really our first 11 should be all the youngsters out of the academy?

We've had some good "old uns" too over the years......

Shipps did a job last year (although he's not as old as people tend to think he is)

How about McGrath who was old and crocked?

"Sid" Cowans was an excellent signing.

Good football teams are a balance of youth, experience, commitment, skill and desire.

You don't often get all that in a young team.

Do you realise the reason why we did so crap in 04/05 was because we didn't have any old players? Do you really expect us to field a full 11 of 18 year olds? You really do puzzle sometimes, no wait, make that ALL the time.

also don't forget when warnock fielded a young side they struggled to beat shrewsbury (sp)

You see, when he says 50% exaggeration he mean 50% of the price quoted which was £20k, so 50% of that is £10k if you add them together its the £30k. so a 50% exaggeration........god im bored.:D

See my post HERE ;)

And Warnock has said he isn't interested anyway on the OS...

Neil Warnock has broken his silence about commenting on speculation linking him with possible transfer targets - but it's more of the same!

Reports that former Manchester United midfielder, Nicky Butt, would be moving to Bramall Lane for £500,000 after failing to make the expected impact at Newcastle have grown apace in recent days.

But the Blades boss Warnock responded: "I've not spoken to Nicky Butt and I've not thought about him.

"I've heard all the talk and people can turn up at the ground to meet him if they like, but there won't be anybody there.

"With the wages I've seen mentioned (£20,000 a week), I'd want three players in."

Warnock is currently out of the country, taking time off and also speaking to potential acquisitions, but has steadfastly refused to give credence to any names thrown at him.

With deals for David Sommeil and Claude Davis already done Warnock has made a good start to team building but has made it known that he intends to bring in more reinforcements before the action begins on 19th August.

Yea i have to say sharpy is right this time having read what a few newcastle fans have said they think he is totally crap and has been ever since he left man u. Looks like we avoided a pitfall there if warnock has dismissed the signing. Id of thought it would of been a good signing i soppose for us but im sort of glad we havnt signed him coz newcastle cant seen to wait to get rid of him.
