A curse on you Newton Heath Fucking useless primadonnas. You can all just fuck off. What a set of overpaid shit. Van Gall's looks like a man under pressure vto me.What did Sheffield United do? What the fuck did your set of pricks do? One shot on target all game. Against a third division team.

There I feel better now.

"... Great technique from Conor Sammon there... "

Genuinely heard on BT Sport this afters!!

How Michael Owen has a job as a pundit I'll never know. They aired a Man City game recently & he came out with this absolute pearl.... "They tend not to win when they don't score"

I've found evidence of it if you didn't believe me btw...

Yet another one with a brain the size of a small pea.

Wasn't Graham Le Saux considered some kind of footballing genius because he read the Guardian? Sounds about right to me.

OK. ... I shouldn't be surprised that the coverage is all about how poor Man Utd were. It was always going to be like that unless they bummed us.

BUT.... I'm appalled by the lack of credit given to us for a very impressive defensive display. Hugely disciplined, organised which required all the players to work so, so hard. It's not something that the neutral would normally appreciate but defending is an important part of the game (which we found out to our cost during the first half of the season). My point is this.... If Man Utd had defended like us in an away leg of a Champions League game at Barcelona then those same pundits would have had their cocks in their hands opining about what a great, gritty defensive performance that was.... and a credit to the quality of premiership defending.

Meanwhile we've got Van Gaal trying to criticise us for defending well. Good. Tells me we did a good job. Tells him he's going to be sacked..... Hey ho.

LVG really is an odd bloke isn't he. His comment about Rooney being lucky to get to take the penalty was strange and his comment about a 3rd division team not having much attacking threat in an away game at OT was bizarre.

Perhaps it's the pressure but I suspect he's like that all the time.

As for BT, Owen was woeful and Scholes was a bit like a Man U version of Keith Edwards - so quite amusing really. A bit irritated by the complete lack of interest in how the real United had nullified the threat from Manchester

Their coverage was pretty poor but we were against Man U, so it was always going to be about them win lose or draw.

LVG ,Michael Owen ,Paul Scholes ,BT and a bag of shit. Spot the difference and Ive not even seen it.

Really don't see what the problem was with BT's coverage. Mid-game at the mention of the great George Best goal in a past tie with us, I found myself saying "what about Glyn Hodges's goal?" – within 5 mins the very goal was referenced.

Yes, the post-match focus was on Man United's poorness. This was always going to be the case given how they performed, and how it instantly feeds the more mainstream story of Van Gaal's woes and their continued drab performances. No other broadcaster would have had their starting focus on our excellent defensive display, other than perhaps Radio Sheffield, who it seems most think are shit too.

I've seen broadcasters in the past look at a performance like ours today and suggest it was destructive, negative etc. I didn't hear that once from the BT broadcasters or guest summarisers – instead it was praise for our efforts, and they said we deserved a point.

Sheff Utd were shit and man Utd were shit,if any other team turned up today ie Exeter, they would have more than 1 shot on target.

As the players walked off at the end 1 of the commentators announced 'United 1 Sheffield United 0'. Generally sums up the medias attitude.

I had the misfortune of having to listen to the Talksport commentary for the first 10 minutes. They called Man U 'United' for the entire 10 minutes.

Fucking abysmal coverage.

The coverage was predictable, Manure, arguably biggest club in world, we aren't. Does anyone really believe that the majority of the viewing audience were anything other than Manure fans?

We did what we could only do against a (supposedly) far better team, defend, which we did very well. The onus was on them to attack and show their better skill levels. It didn't really happen.

Well done blades, to a player, you worked your socks off.

It was ever thus. I did an article about exactly that subject for Flashing Blade after the 1993 FA Cup match, which was entitled something like "There's only one United and it isn't us", we'd been called Sheffield throughout on TV and radio.

In those days, we competed in the same league and everybody even then described the Mancs as "United". Two leagues lower and we'll have to live with the injustice of us being the original one and somebody else pinching the name. Unless of course we win a few Champions League titles, the Premiership on occasions and seven more FA Cup, even then it's doubtful.

basically BT sport thought that 'manchester' (as i'm calling them now.. city can be city) would hammer us and it would be good viewing for the non football obsessed types .. a bit like watching a one sided gladitorial match up.. but we fucked that up for them.. well done Blades!
van Gaal is a total nob (what's with the funny little briefcase moment?)

Agree, I thought the commentator (was it Ian Darke?) was pretty knowledgable about us and quite keen to show it, talked about the youth cup final etc.
Didn't watch the post match analysis. Too disappointed in losing at the death. Now I've got over it, I'm only bothered that we've lost out on another pay out for the replay. We don't really need another tiring game that we'll probably lose.

Some bitter grade A shit spouted on here at the moment I'm afraid. LVG actually said some really positive stuff about us but lets not let that stand in the way of a story eh? This could have been written before a ball was kicked and its the usual suspects making the noise. Yawn.

I was listening to Talk Sport the other day at work..Warnock was on with Alan Brazil..AB mentioned the Cup games over the weekend and mentioned something along the lines of it would be good to get them back for a replay at 'the Lane'...usually 'the Lane' is reserved for Spurs on there...anyway Warnock was more interested in talking up how he loved 'Palace' and QPR...the only time he touched on United,he referred to his time 'at Sheffield' .
I agree with you though BP...can't stand all the 'United' references to ManU in the media, especially when they're playing the real United.

Maybe we would have got more credit if we hadnt lost

Warnock was talking more about Palace and QPR? That's not like him.
