My mate at work has heard a rumour, i don't know where from, that we are going pay £700,000 AND Neil Shipperley for Chris Brunt. Anyone know if there's any truth in this? We are lacking a left winger, so it doesn't seem too out there.

Can't see it happening. But I wouldn't mind bringing brunty in.
He seems to have started being a lot more consistent than what I can remember of him.

A Wednesday fan at work told me this morning we were after Brunt so maybe it's doing the rounds?

Oh god no.

Out of all the players available in the world your telling me we can't do better than another piggy bastard.

I'd be very let down with that, especially for the price + Shipps

Apparently it was someone phoning in to FH and trying to wind the piggies up :)

Let's face it, Shipps will never play a part for us again in the first team. Brunt is a decent young player and could fit in the side i think. (can take a penalty too)

700k is not a hefty amount of money either.

All the other grunters have played their part in helping us out this season too

But we don't need 'maybe alright' players.

We need players who are playing/have played at a higher level.

FFS if all we can muster is a bottom half champ player, then I sadly say we are going to be relegated.

By buying top class players is by no means guarantee of success, west ham and newcastle spring to mind.

If brunt was the only player to come in jan I wouldn't be impressed, but at the same time I think he would do well for us

Nothing guarantees success in football other than hard work. But Stevie G & Henry in our team would do wonders I'm sure. ;)

If Brunt was the only player to come to us in the transfer window, I would be in the carpark asking for resignations from McCabe and Warnock.

And I'm being serious.

id like him if not only to piss of wednesday fans, to show them which sheffield team is in control :P

No no no no no no no and NO!!! If Shipperley went to Wednesday I'd shave ALL the hair off my legs, arms and chest!! :(

We'll hold you to that Jonny!

:D

no ta, Squinny looked just as good there. we dont need him. we have tonge, webber, keef, squinny, quinny, that can all play there

Whereas I don't necessarily want Chris Brunt, I don't think it's good enough to say Tonge, Keef, Webber or Quinn CAN play there, I'd prefer we brought in someone that will play there with far more success than any of those. Young SQuinny could be that solution, but it's a bit early to say that he will be yet.

Squinny has played one game there.
Tonge I don't trust on the wing any longer.
Webber is a striker and is wasted on a wing
keef is primarily a right winger, so again a waste on the left
quinny i think is more suited to the middle too.

Brunt would be a good squad player in my honest opinion, he has a fantastic drive on him

I think I agree with every word there. I like Alan Quinn, but I don't think he's done it this season. I for one woulf like Brunt in, I think he's a good left sided midfielder and not a good player playing left sided midfield.
