Ok then, let's talk about the wages budget as well. Since the end of last season, the following contracted players have been removed from the wage bill:- Camara, Geary, Haber, Little, Reid, Harper, Stewart, Naysmith, Sharp, Kenny and Bennett (11 players) plus the players we had on loan who've not been re-signed Bunn, Seip, Kallio, Bartley and Connolly (5 players). Some of those such as Naysmith and Sharp were on very high "Robson-era" wages.

To replace them we've signed just Kozluk, Walton, Simonsen, Britton, Bogdanovic and Ertl (6 players). So in addition to making a large profit on transfers since June, we've made an even bigger saving on wages. £5M a year according to your estimate. The parachute payments ended in June 2009, so United's income hasn't slumped massively in June 2010. Should United really be incapable of completing a deal for a £200K player?

I can't trade figures because neither of us know them. I'm pretty certain that come the end of the year we'll post another set of accounts showing a loss, and aside from other businesses, I bet the players wages will exceed the money that comes in from gate receipts etc. The fact that this difference will have fallen sharply over the last few seasons still doesn't mean that it's in the black. If you don't trust these accounts then you believe that someone is defrauding the club.

We don't know why we lost out on Bruce - but perhaps we were trying too hard to screw the deal in our favour. That doesn't necessarily mean we can't afford £200K, just that someone else wanted him more. It seems most of our fans didn't want him at all, though I'll wager he's just become twice as good now that he's signed for someone else.

Well put... that's about all there is to it. If we'd have got into a bidding war with Leeds and ended up paying half a million for Son of Chump, United would have been slated for wasting money. Not fussed tbh.

Im glad that Leeds have nipped us in the bud for Bruce, and it is not the disaster everyone is making it out to be at all, apart from to Ollesandro who i presume is now hanging from a length of rope from the rafters.
