What worries me to death is

IT's Still In Our Hands!

Indeed, whichever way the fixtures fall, the likelihood as that we'll have 4 games in the final week to 10 days where we'll need 8 or 9 points to go guarantee going up.

Well we could always just win the next 5 (eminently winnable) games, leaving us with probably only 4 to 5 points needed from the last four games.

Which we will of course fail to get.....

Tranmere (away), Carlisle (home), Walsall (away), Swindon (home), Crawley (home)?

I'd say two of these are very tough games in this league. I'd see only Carlisle as a gimme... I'd take ten points, 15 would be a miracle.

we probably wouldnt have won most of em anyway, but now we have an excuse for when we dont??

what was our excuse for not getting a goal against orient or mk donuts? and being utter rich tea biscuits against stevenage.

Surely there's only BTL who genuinely thinks we're actually going to get promotion?

Who is making excuses ? certainly no one from the club and no one on here

The WWW will explode if we don't go up with all you Clappers piling on here to say how the weather conspired against us and how poor old Danny had nothing to work with and had such big disadvantages when compared with Donny and Brentford. It will be very sad to see but will confirm just what a pathetic joke SUFC and a significant part of its fanbase, has become.

Wilson's inability last Summer to sign anyone with pace or a modicum of ability will linger long in the memory as one of the most embarrassing examples of football management it is possible to see. As will his partnership of Hill and Williams on the left wing.

.
What is it with the 'clapper' rubbish. Have a debate without all the clapper/slasher crap because fas disagree with each other.

To get back to the point,NO ONE has made ANY exceuses. However some appear to be thinking of excuses to have a go at the club about.

It what way have a 'significant' part of the fanbase become a pathetic joke ? is it those who

- say nothing but support the club on match days ?
- those who berate the cub and some of its fans at seemingly every opportunity ?
- those who say nothing is wrong with the club
- those who disagree with others by saying they are slashers or clappers.

Come on,Mic,you are normally a poster people on here can have a reasonable discussion with so you don't have to resort to this rubbish

It's the acceptance of mediocrity, the bollocks about not relying on loan players etc, the blind spot people get when the fact that SUFC Ltd does not own BDTBL is mentioned and plenty of other things bartman. It is totally beyond my comprehension that SUFC in this day and age is in a position whereby IF we get promoted from the Pub League we will almost certainly be cannon fodder in the 2nd tier.

I for one don't accept mediocrity. I hate that we are not only in L1 but making an inedible meal of it. I just wonder what the hell we as fans can do about it?

I don't think anyone is accepting mediocrity,it is of an acceptance of acknowledging what we have is not that ood but tryting to back the team to promotion rather than on match days, getting on the players' backs at some fans do (admittedly the minority).

We can only hope that someone with enough money takes over from McCabe but until then we will have to put up with poor decision making.

SUFC Ltd not owning the ground is a slight concern but owning it hasn't exactly won things in the past has it ? It is in the hands of McCabe so hopefully(fingers crossed) he won't stitch the club up. However if the Limited company has debts but no assets, the only creditor who may try and put us into liquidation would be HMRC and as far as I am aware,we are paying them. The other unsecured creditors wouldn't do this as McCabe holds the security

For the last two seasons we haven't relied on loan players however I think it may be wise to get a couple of good ones in now to see us to promotion...surely this is obvious.

If we get promoted we will have an overall of the squad and possibly a new manager provided funds are provided. However, let us get there first

I think one of the ways fans could help change the situation would be to turn up in huge numbers every week.

McCabe isn't going to throw any more money at it so the only way things will change in any significant way is if he finds a buyer. The only thing we can do as a group to make the club a more attractive proposition to prospective buyers is to turn up week in, week out at BDTBL and make the club as saleable as possible.

I'm sure selling a club with an average gate of 25,000 (with the subsequent increases in turnover) is easier than selling a club averaging 18,000.

I'd agree with you if it wasn't for that bloke upstairs not giving him the funds and then pulling our top scorer to sell him to Reading on a whim.

Perhaps we should knit Forte a new leg to nurse him through the rest of the season, for all the good he has done us.

What winds me up with you fanatical Clappers (and I'm sorry but there is no better term available) is that you cannot seem to grasp that any increase in turnover would be useless because McCabe would be wanting rent from a new owner. That is the only way he will ever get any wedge back from SUFC.

I am sure it is easier to sell (for £1) a near bankrupt company that owns property rather than a slighlty less bankrupt company that doesn't. You really need to see and understand the wider picture Cooper.

I also think prolonged anti-McCabe chanting would help matters as well - although hopefully would not put off a new owner.

How?

You wouldn't join in anyway. Your seat is close enough to the director's box for your famous fear of conflict to kick in.

18000 in the third are huge numbers

I've been trying to remember who it is your posts remind me of, and then it came to me whilst reading Private Eye - Dave Spart!

An according to the Star United will lose a £30,000 payment from satellite television unless the re-arranged match with Brentford is screened live.Apparently the ref Stroud , who 24 hours earlier had predicted the pitch would be playable, was unable to perform another inspection after being snowed in at his hotel.
Use the 30 grand to put the ref up in the Copithorne and pay off the coppers problem solved.Do what the shammers do on a smaller scale.

Ive changed my opinion , obviously we are doomed now , 2 points adrift . only 3 games in hand on some , couldnt even beat brentford and what was Dannys excuse , we just didnt play, Ive heard it all now

Am I alone in thinking that the Brentford cancellation could have been a blessing in disguise? We weren't exactly on a roll. But they were. Given our recent form at the Lane I fully expected us to be turned over if the match had gone ahead at the weekend. Hopefully, the extra week will give us time to figure out exactly what went wrong against Stevenage and make sure we get the tactics right next time out.

As with most of these things, we probably wont know until the season is over.

There was no way to know if playing 6 of our last 8 games after Wednesday was going to have an effect on us last season. i think it did and we eventually cracked against Stevenage (ironically the week after playing at the same time as the unclean and slipping up against MK Dons)

I am convinced that all these events are this year's plan from the footballing gods to fuck us up again.

Games in hand are not an kind of bonus you might imagine.
Matches we might have won will be draws as the lads will be out on their feet
Matches we might have drawn we will potentially lose as the fixture pile up takes its toll.
It's too much to ask at the end of a hard season when we have a lack of creativity in the first place.

Kenilworth, a follow up letter to the Football Gods is already in composition. All i'm waiting for is their ruling on how this season will end ;)

I guess we could say "What's the point?", decide there isn't one and go and do something else more worthwhile.

I must admit that there have been more seasons I've thought that there hasn't been a point than there has been a point.

No pun intended but I guess somebody will appreciate the tap-in..

;)

I know footballers are thick but do you really think it would take them that long to figure out what happened in a 4-0 scoreline?

Working out what happened and working out how to not do it again are two very different things.
