Hi all,

New poster, long time reader, lifetime Blade.

Just having a look over the fixtures and noticed that we don't play anyone above 12th (currently) until the Northampton game on New Years Eve (bar the re-scheduled Walsall game).

I'm not one to tempt fate but I'm struggling to see where we could slip up in this time? Personally I think the Chesterfield game may be a potential banana skin, but I'm pretty confident we should be taking three points from the Proact given ours and their current form.

What do you think? Who is there to be worried about between now and the New Year? Obviously the league shifts all the time, but the teams around us who you'd expect to be there or thereabouts have a much harder run than we do.

I can't help but feel this is a massive chance to gain top two, and potentially out some space between us and the play-off places.

Welcome Mr ekke, I have been posting on here for about 18 months so still relatively new, I tend to not get to involved inthe agro and leave it to the big lads, I feel I have been accepted ok but realise I am one post or comment away from a hiding, so keep your powder dry and do not under any circumstances upset Barney, I think he is ok but you may be in trouble if you take his side, good luck and hope you enjoy it, oh and I reckon we will be top by by January, :-)

We do have some very winnable looking fixtures coming up, particularly these next 3 games.

Having said that, this league does have a funny way of biting you in the ass when you aren't really expecting it... alas, Southend at home.

We should be relatively ok until February.

Based on the current form of the teams we play then, (obviously subject to change), that month could be quite a bastard.

Yeah, nothing can be guaranteed that's for certain.

We're a different team since the Southend game though, but the run has to end sometime. Hopefully when it does it wont be for long.

Score more goals than t'other team. That's the key to success in this league!

Shrewsbury have just binned their manager and looked pretty good at the weekend, although that was against a crap Barnet team that couldn't do anything apart from long throws and fouling. Would think we'll be fine but got to imagine they'd be up for it at least

Welcome ekke.
I really hope your surname isn't thump!!??

One game at a time and all that bollocks. Should be winning the lot on paper but there'll be a couple who go through some kind of resurgence along the way. Coventry are picking up a bit, as an example.

Fingers crossed there's no injuries but I feel there's a decent enough squad depth for us to cope if there is.

Welcome to the madhouse. Love the avatar! Cracking film.

Six home league games and only two away after Chessy to the end of the year as well. On paper, we should be in a really good position to kick on in January.

If only games were played on paper eh? ;)

Oh dear, oh dear.
First lesson, trawl all other threads to ensure there aren't any that already contain similar comments (they do by the way) which brings me neatly onto the second thing you need to be aware of.
And that's SBT who will be along shortly to back up my point with a vengeance! ;)
Welcome btw.
Lovely to have you on board.
I'm sure your stay here will be fruitful, educational and enjoyable...at least until we start losing again!!

I'm in agreement with Mr Jones
I think the banana could be Coventry.
Remember last year when their form was really good and ours was utter pants - they had all the game and then Billy popped one in off his shoulder?

I understand that they are not particularly playing any better but they seem to be picking up on a bit of luck and are grabbing a few points now with Venus is at the helm.

Mind you, since Venus is the Roman goddess whose functions encompass love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity, victory, and desire, that's not as surprising as it first appears

Thanks all for the welcome, apologies that there's a similar thread. My first (of many) errors no doubt!

My surname isn't Thump...I'm not sure I know what Ekke Thump is?

I work with a Coventry fan who isn't convinced they're really turning any corners at the minute, so maybe that will be a scrappy draw. It's on Sky though as well isn't it?

ecky thump
What Bill Oddie says when a normal person would say 'fuck me rigid' or words to that effect.
Kate Humble: I'm going public about our relationship, Bill. By tomorrow morning the world will know about your propensity for freeform nambling and Belgian biscuit, you sick bastard.

Bill Oddie: Oh, ecky thump.

I don't get why folk predict such long term likelihoods.
We could lose 3 key players in a heartbeat to injury and/or suspension. Form can dip. A lifetime of largely disappointment when it really matters supporting this club means I expect the worst whilst hoping for the best.
I obviously hope the OP becomes a reality, but even seeing it written makes me fear the fates, tempted will exact terrible retribution.
I hope I don't have any cause to revisit thread.

the footballing gods do have a tendency to shit on us at the best of times!

We can "slip up" against anyone. Take nothing for granted at all.

I think ekke287 is an imposter. First he says:

lifetime Blade.

Then he says:

I'm not one to tempt fate but I'm struggling to see where we could slip up in this time?

Lifetime Blade my arse! :D
he also mentions the M word
