From what I've seen of him on FM and FIFA over the last 5 years for what it's worth, he is great physically and is average technically. I welcome him to the lane personally and as cover for CDM I think he'll be okay. The most interesting aspect to this signing is that Wilder obviously doesn't trust Lunny in CDM despite him playing virtually every pre-season game and impressing, unless he plans on playing Besic at RCB. I actually think he may be an absolute revelation at RCB as he has all the attributes to excel there. He may well be Basham two point 0.

I’m going to assume this guy knows absolutely nothing about football because Delph is criminally underrated. Wonderful technical footballer.

Sounds to me like he needs us as much as we need him. Has the attributes of a player that fits in to the way have been playing and want to play.

Perhaps not the best if we become an overly negative team. Hopefully he can help prevent us from becoming one.

Not going to read too much into the Boro fans who don’t rate him. Messi would struggle to look good in a Tony Pulis team.

Unless they mean by 'takes too many touches' that he takes ages to get the ball under control then I don't see it as a negative. Clearly playing in a Pulis side requires you to simply gerritforrad and if you aren't doing that you are a waste of a shirt. He won't need to 'take too many touches' with better technical players around him than at Boro who want the ball. See Leon Brittan for a case study.

Its an indication that he is comfortable on the ball, the days of a midfield player in the Premiership who is there to simply win tackles are long gone. There will be games next season where we spend a lot of time without the ball so we need players who aren't going to waste it.
