Been a while since i have seen a ref perform that bad.

So back passes are allowed now ?

what an nob of a ref.
is it just me or do we always get the shit ref or ref who make bad decisions against us?

It will be interesting to see how many "free kicks" we gave away.

Or rather how many the ref gave.

The backpass one was shocking.

And fouls on our players/Handballs by oposition players are ok in there penalty area as well.

Can someone explain to me what the Fuck was the Penalty for? Morgan cleared the ball, penalty given!? Was it intent to foul again?

I'm not usually one to jump out my seat and have a go at the ref, but the backpass decision wa. s one of the worst decisions i've probably ever seen, and i joined eveyone in jumping up and having a good go at the ref. poor reffing.

The backpass one was shocking.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it.

The linesman was looking right at it and did fuck all.

As for the penalty I couldn't really see what Morgan did wrong.

Foxy was still wingeing about the backpass 10 minutes later.

All I saw was Morgs swinging a leg......not sure if he connected.

I now take that all back about the backpass, definatley not his foot and according to this...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back-pass_rule
Feet and throw ins count as back passes.
Still doesn't mean i think it was a bit one sided refereeing

I seem to recall a match against Luton just after Kendall took over (1995) where the defender used his knee/thigh to get the ball back to the keeper, but deliberately. We were awarded an indirect free kick, and Hutchison wellied it in to get us an undeserved win on about 85 minutes. As I recall he mis-hit it and it nearly burst the top left corner of the net.

The ruling was that a player couldn't use his/her feet or legs to control a pass back to the keeper, which is why we got a free kick.

As far as I was aware, the rule hadn't changed.

I thought there were about four handballs in those couple of seconds. It seemed to bobble everywhere. Apart from that though, what about the absolutely nailed on penalty for us which wasn't given at the start of the second half?

In fact, on the back pass lark, if the ball comes off a defending player's foot, but there is no intention of it going to the keeper as a result (like a cannon off a shot), it can't be deemed a pass back.

That would of been alright although last night was a blatent back pass to the keeper.

When the rule first came out they said it was anything below the waist was a pass-back if used deliberately. But the FA's website does specify that it has to be "kicked". Bit pointless - doesn't take much to 'shin' or 'knee' it back.

The back-pass rule refers to two clauses within Law 12 of the Laws of the Game of football (soccer). These clauses prohibit the goalkeeper from intentionally handling the ball when a team-mate uses his/her feet or a throw-in to intentionally pass them the ball. The goalkeeper is still permitted to use his feet and other body parts to redirect the ball.

Depending on the wording, I may have to apologise to Mr D'Urso on that incident, however if it'd have been the other side of the pitch I have no doubt he'd have given it.

I had a clear view, he definitly used his KNEE to hit the Ball and that is why it wasnt a back pass, to be fair to the worst ref I had seen in years he did indicate this as did the blind lino.

So can you flick the ball up and knee it back to the keeper as often as you like? Good way to time-waste.

The ref last night was diabolical. Why on earth did they get a penalty!!! None of their players even appealed for it.

Think it was for nearly breaking their attackers leg.

I didn't see the incident at the time, but a replay clearly shows on tv it should have been a penalty

I don't know, it wasn't an intentional foul, it looked to me like he swung a leg to clear the ball and caught the player instead.

I'm not clear about the rules for penalties anymore especially after some of the comments made by refs over the last couple of years. Look at Gillespie against Reading in the promotion season. No penalty because "it wasn't a clear goal scoring opportunity". We had 2 or 3 strong cases for penalties and everyone was turned down. I'd like to hear the ref's reasoning.

You're not allowed to "manufacture" a pass-back. So flipping it up for a team-mate to head it back is also not allowed.

It's just another crappy rule that's open to interpretation

For 'interpretation', read 'corruption'

I remember Nigel Clough lying on floor and heading it back to their keeper when at Forest..... :D
