Ken Anderson claims he is facing resistance from the Football League as he attempts to ease the injury crisis at Wanderers.

A request was made last week to register Under-23 striker Jeff King as a senior professional but was turned down on a vote by the Football League board.

Anderson is unhappy that the board, whose members include representatives of some of the Whites’ League One rivals, did not reject the application for the right reasons.

“When I spoke to the Football League they couldn’t understand why I’d want to bring another player in because they say ‘you have 25 good players,’ the chairman said.

“The meeting was very much about bringing through one of our younger players, Jeff King, who I wanted to register. Effectively it went to a vote and we lost on a split vote on the board.

“I wasn’t too happy. There were certain people at other clubs who probably didn’t want us to bring in other players.

“The words they used were ‘conflict of interest’ but I’d go something stronger and say they may have had a vested interest in him not joining us.”

The EFL board is made up of 10 people, chaired by Oxford United’s Ian Lenegan and including Scunthorpe United’s Jim Rodwell and Walsall’s Stefan Gamble.

Wanderers are now hoping the league will grant them permission to sign midfielder Jem Karacan in time to face Fleetwood Town this weekend.

“We are still waiting for some confirmation on that one,” said Phil Parkinson. “What we are looking for is that real energy in the middle of the pitch and he would also give us that.

“The Football League are looking at it but with all the players we’ve got out, we’re well below the number they have set out – I can tell you that now.

“If you add Lewis Buxton, who isn’t even training yet and looks unlikely he will, then we need a bit of help and Jem will give us that.”

Parkinson hopes the EFL will show some leniency as he tries to maintain a promotion push in the most unlikely circumstances.

“That is a problem – we are fighting against so many things,” he told The Bolton News.

“I spoke to the chief executive of the Football League and he said ‘look Phil, most teams in an embargo are in relegation trouble. You are up there.’

“I understand that but we really have had an extraordinary number of players out, we really have, so we need a bit of fairness. That is what we are looking for.”

Another option – which will also require some leniency from the Football League – would be to re-register Darren Pratley, whose progress after ankle surgery is ahead of schedule.

Parkinson feels the midfielder, who has been missing since fracturing his ankle on the first day of the season against Sheffield United, could play a part if necessary.

The funny thing is Bolton fans don't seem to know who Jeff King is.

Well here he is although I think he's alot older than 23.

Being impartial for a second, this is a farce on both sides. No right to complain that you can't add another pro while under an embargo, equally stupid for the Football League to have such an obviously biased panel voting on these matters.

I am sure we are to blame somehow for this because we beat them 2-0 the other week.

It's a bastard when you actually have to play by the rules Ken, isn't it?
Years of total mis-management, millions down the drain wasted on overpaid mercenaries, proposing that the Premier League should be a 'closed shop' just because Bolton are in it at the time.
Fuck you Bolton....and all who sail in you.

Not that I have a lot of sympathy, but this is a voting matter not a clear reading of a rule. Having someone from Fleetwood and Scunthorpe vote on those matters is ridiculous. It's the same way we got shafted in the Prem.

Did he really support that? Total wanker if so

When I was reading it i half expected United to be on the panel. thankfully there is no mention of us.

Bolton could and should have appealed when the embargo was levied against them . They didn't because they were sitting pretty at the time . Now they're not its unfair all of a sudden .

There's a world of difference between what happened with us and Tevez and Bolton now .

I'm not making a direct comparison to the rulings. The comparison that stands is football's utterly ridiculous habit of providing panels and votes with biased parties. The vote going against Bolton isn't something I have any complaints about in principle. What I think is an awful principle is having Fleetwood and Scunthorpe casting votes.

Can you imagine if there were a matter we needed a ruling on, hoping it would go in our favour, and finding out that someone from Fleetwood was on the panel?

in this case its not whos on the panel that matters
all clubs , thats ALL clubs knew that after jan 31st that was that
you played out the season with what you had
if it means playing the second keeper at right wing , whose fault is that
could we sign a striker when ched was sent down
same thing

The football league should tell the parasites to go fuck themselves they owe hundreds of millions yet trying to bring a player that was playing for Wales and West Brom not so long ago in on big wages for this league it stinks.

Did anyone at all give a fuck about us when the Premier league and FA screwed us over? thought not why the fuck should I give a toss about Bolton, if they were not such a set of cunts they wouldn't be begging for help to get around a transfer embargo. Fuck em nobody gives a rats arse anyway.

They're the tinnitus of the football world.
Fuck em.
