Afternoon all,

Roygbiv is in a remote location this week where the internet connection is something akin to the old plastic-cups-joined-by-a-piece-of-string - so instead I'm very pleased to have Jay, Blades Analytic himself, joining me for a discussion on transfers and also some listener questions. Topics covered include:

  • new faces that would immediately fit our team
  • prospects from the EFL
  • the Luke Freeman loan
  • who might be this year's "Lord Lundstram" (King Kean?)
  • if you could clone one United player ten times to make an XI of that player, which one would be best?

Thanks for listening, and UTB!

Also on Spotify and Apple.

RND as a future LCB for us is an interesting suggestion. I think like J-Robs the main thing that would worry me about them their is their sub 6-foot height – it’s perhaps not too concerning for a back-up player, but I think he has more chance of a starting role in the future at LWB – and a clearer path to it if we don’t strengthen in that area further.

I particularly liked the suggestion that we’re playing hardball on price for some of these players in the Championship because it’s likely the clubs will reduce the prices nearer the deadline. It would make sense if these teams do as is likely need to sell. I agree that it shouldn’t be a problem that we might not have all the new players in place for the first game – I think last year’s window has made folk forget that this is how the window had been previously. The last season we started where the window shut a few weeks in, we didn’t actually bring in our arguably most important signing (who hadn’t played a minute of preseason football with us) till it had shut for permanent deals.

Great pod. Grateful as ever for the brilliant Blades content we have at the minute. Got a few Man Utd mates who have been sharing stuff recently about how a lot of their 'fan content' is actually just big media funding some random bloke to pretend to be a fan ~influencer style~ and pretty much make up outrageous options to capture views in the vein of AFTV. And then over here we have Bladespod, Blades Analytic, Dem Blades, Tufty Club, Four Blades in a Pub, Ballsup Phil and the CBF... The list goes on. Sorry for the big love in, but it can't be emphasised enough how we're lucky to have fans with good knowledge and a sense of humour

Surely we're getting a decent loan fee for L.Freeman by the way. Nobody is mentioning that. Plus the lad loves to play regularly.

Good pod as usual, thanks. Nice to have a bit of input from your old contributor.

A great listen, as ever. However, I’ve become accustomed to the longer pods, so found it too short.

Was good to hear from Jay again, despite how much I ‘enjoy’ Roy’s anecdotes of visiting the toilet/been ditched by his Dad.

Absolutely excellent podcast, really enjoyed it.

Had similar conversations with a Liverpool supporting mate over the last couple of years. If you look at the number of hits/clicks that some of these 'amateur' channels get and compare to the viewers of sky sports - it becomes very clear where football fans are going for their content!!

Certainly if you look at how commercialised the likes of AFTV and The Kick Off have become, you realise the entire landscape is changing!

I'm sure once we emerge as genuine title contenders beans will be streaming live via YouTube with his Beats Headphones, Ladbrokes monikers scattered around talking to fans who want Wilder sacked because we've only finished 4th and he's taken us as far as he can....

That aside - best pod in a good while sir! Well done!

Really enjoyed it and Jay's enthusiasm for the game is infectious. Back to the old L1 'dream team' line up when we were taking teams apart for fun.

That said, I do love old grumpy drawers Roygbiv (and his dad). It's a different vibe but certainly no less enjoyable.

Congratulations Beans , you have two excellent partners and have greatly contributed to my Blade enjoyment over the Wilder-wonder-age.

PLEASE keep it up lads.

Depends what you want from your United analysis. Factual, insightful data based chat or toilet based anecdotes and analogies about Leon Clarke being like Tony from Hollyoaks.

It's a broad church in my bit of Bladeland:-
Insightful stats yes, but toilet jokes never fail to please.

Keep 'em coming lads, keep 'em coming

According to FIFA 20 RND is 6ft 1".
