cheers jonny. just as you posted, pigs went 1-0 up with a free kick from edge of box. not been a bad start, wasted a couple of good early chances though. Walker just blazed just over the bar

bit of a frantic match so far. blades closing down quickly and playing a tight game. blades the better team at the moment but just as I type that wednesday have got a second against the run of play.

still 0-2 at half time. pretty even at the moment. blades midfield been giving the ball away a bit easily but starting to pick up. eagers doing well.

ps - the earlier naughton should be kyle walker. dictionary auto replaced!

0-3 pigs. another soft goal on the break. possibly offside.

Pontin's League:

Just a quick report because it was too cold to sit there scribbling.

While a disappointing scoreline, it probably flatters Wednesday more than they deserve. The Blades lads definitely had the most possession in what was a frenetic match and had it been for more decisiveness in the final third, the result could have been far different.

The Blades bossed the midfield with Keith Quinn and Aymen Tayhar harrying the opposition from the outset. However, and particularly with these two aforementioned players, they get the hard work done but when it comes to releasing the ball, they suffer from a lack of concentration which can concede possession. Time after time the ball was given away rashly. But when the lads took a second to think, they often strung together some slick and attractive stuff.

It was therefore, against the run of play that Wednesday scored their first. The Blades conceded a free kick on the edge of the box that was taken quickly by Burton O'Brien. Kang Ho Lee in the Blades net was left standing as the ball sailed into the far corner.

The Blades back four were playing well with Travis Binnion proving a vocal leader on the pitch. Their endeavour however, couldn't stop the score being doubled 20 minutes into the game, with Ronnie Wallwork scoring with his head.

Midway through the second half, Lee was caught in no-mans land by Jermaine Johnson who easily rounded the stricken keeper to square the ball to the advancing Luke Boden. Despite the suspicion of offside, the goal counted and the Blades were restricted to long-range efforts in the dying stages.

Thanks Linz, nice to know we have some talent to come.

I'd say the two that stood out tonight were...

Travis Binnion (captain for a reason, good communicator, passionate and plays with a level of maturity (other than chucking his toys out of the pram :D))

and

Jordan Eagers (Never stopped and had a good game, always involved, worked pretty hard).
