Paul Shaw made his debut for Ferencvaros on Wednesday as the Hungarian team played a friendly against third division Martonvasar.

The former Arsenal forward was in the starting line-up and played 45 minutes in the 3-2 win.

The 34-year-old's salary will be paid by Sheffield United as part of a link between the two clubs, with Ferencvaros providing the player with a house and a car.

Well thats a great way to piss some money down the drain.

Perhaps pay Horsefield to go over there aswell.

He'll not be on much and if it helps gaining the club/land they have then its a worthwhile task :)

Lets not forget we are buying this guys house and car.

Doubt it will be a cheap flat and a banged out old mini. :D

I cant see us gaining anything from the club in terms of players but we maybe able to knock it down and build a hotel. :)

No, we aren't, Ferencvaros are buying the house and car. But they will not have paid anythign for it, they will be already owned by club.

why buy a club abroad???? if we want a feeder club, why not use Sheffield F.C, teams like that?

Because we are looking for the best hungarian players, if we were using Sheffield FC it'd be no point because we have access to all the players in Sheffield but no insight or link
to the players in Hungary.

It's not just a player/work permit issue, its establishing the business side of the club and all part of McCabes aspirations of becoming a european force. Just need to stuff on the pitch to catch up :)

Its about land and a local name to associate his other businesses with, its the same with Chengdu. The Belgian club we are associated with is the only one really being used as a feeder club at the moment.

Well thats how i understand it anyway.

If we use a feeder club we would need one several rungs higher up the football ladder than Sheffield FC. The main reason that clubs use Belgian teams as feeders is that the Belgian employment laws aren't as strict as the UK's. That means that a player from a non-EU country can play in Belgium until he's been a EU resident for the required time (2 or 3 years I think) then come straight over to an English club without having to apply for a work permit.
Other clubs that we are associated with are there for two reasons - first, to hopefully find quality players for us, and secondly, to make money for us. It may take a while, but Kevin McCabe didn't get to where he is today by being rubbish at business.

I think giving them Paul Shaw may sour the relationship between the 2 clubs though.

Especially when they see him play. :)
