Matt Done's shoys. (For a bloke that's one of the few who actually wears black football boots, what was he thinking??!!)

I think the same about many things I see. But then I remember as a child of the seventies, my Mum (God rest her) would regularly buy things for me like Tank Tops and Snake Belts :(

I am with you on this criticism. My two sons were treated badly by two professional clubs at their COE's when they were giving there all in training playing diet; working hard doing well in matches then we realised its not about those factors to get a pro contract its about who one knows; coaches "fancying yer" ; managers pushing you up the ladder and some spozy luck like having one good game for the reserves whilst gaffer happens to have turned up. After that many current full time pros are techically poor than may part time semis pro's with full time jobs.............I can find many better players in the National Leagues (old Conference) better than the above 4 who just got lucky and are resting on their laurels having achieved not a lot in the pro game but have earned a decent living by being ordinary......generally speaking many pro's lack intelligence and worldly ness so these public misdemeanours will always crop up. Its not very bright to go to Carver St. where they will be seen rather than out in the stick up country some where. Role models .......what!!!!

I know this sounds harsh Doc but maybe your sons just weren't good enough particularly as you say they were presumably dropped by 2 separate COE (Centre of Excellence), 2 seperate sets of coaches. Obviously I don't know any of the circumstances but surely they are assessed over the season when it comes to signing them on as scholars or as pros. I think it is easy to blame coaches favourites, spozzy luck etc but I am sure if they have got the necessary talent they will go on to make it.

Just going back to our youth cup team of a few years ago I can't think of any of the lads released ie not signed as pros that have gone on to do anything football wise. Even out of the ones signed as pros there is only as far as I am aware Maguire and Long playing regularly as pros. Kennedy and McFadzean hopefully find a club but the rest have either dropped out of football altogether or are playing in non league eg Ironside, Whitehouse (did think he'd make it though). I can't think of any that now aren't playing that that were better than those that are just because they had bad luck or weren't fancied etc. If they are good enough they will be picked up, it's just that usually they aren't.

As regards being seen out following a match before a day off when there is no game for 7 days? I don't really see the big deal. If they are crawling down the street pissed then that will affect their training performance but a few drinks with friends following an award ceremony?

Just my two penneth.

But you said you didn't give a fuck what they did in their private lives. Adam Johnson fingered a 15 year old girl and he didn't do it publicly. If that had been a Blades player would you have given a fuck? :)
I couldnt give a fuck what any footballer does to be fair.Only when its a blade do i give a fuck.Going out drinking together should improve moral and team togetherness. The players didnt do owt wrong, i expect them to socialise with each other. You trust that they are intelligent enough to behave off the pitch and conduct themselves like a pro whilst doing things the rest of us do.like going out on the piss.I dont blame them, its not they can take drugs. They need a life, same as the rest of us.There are always 1 or 2 that dont behave, thats life but you cant control that but you can get rid of them for bringing the clubs name into disrepute.

and this is exactley what is happening at united............the do we like him enough to let him have a go clique.

This is a real shame for some of the talent we have and we could seriously bring on ( improve) but Adkins is the man that speaks with forked tongue.
Its a case of the old boys network with Adkins, but without his coaches at his side he is clueless.Watch him at the next match looking at Crosby & co for guidance.

So let me get this straight. Adkins is clueless, reading some on this forum Clough was clueless, Weir was clueless, Wilson was clueless and there is this massive pool of talent we have that a good manager could unearth.

The only luck involved is in staying fit. If you are good enough and are what the club are looking for you get selected. Your post is on the money, but obviously no one wants to hear that their kids didnt make the grade.

And he is in prison. Last I looked nipping down your local wasnt seen in the same light as sexual assault of an under age girl. As long as it is legal they should be able to do what they want.

My point was that GHLF said he didn't give a fuck what football players did in their private lives.
I gave a very valid instance in which you should give a fuck.
Murdering someone with a car is another.
