I've just seen a ten minute report on The Blades on CNN - Sportsworld or Sports Zone. All about how we're unique in buying clubs etc. Interviews with Mike Farnham, Ron Reid, Sam Wedgebury and Scott McCabe who is very much his fathers son. Apparantly, one of our top exec was quoted saying we could 'change the face of football as we know it'!!! Perhaps interesting it said having invested into China, Australia & Hungary our next targets are the middle east and USA. So maybe we've all read these reports of syria wrong, we're not getting investment from them, we're going to be giving some club over there a makeover!!

World Domination!!!

McCabe will be building a secret island volcano lair guarded by sharks with lasers on their heads next...

The top clubs in English football clubs have always attracted investment and in recent years the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been bought by wealthy foreign investors.

But what happens if your club isn't big enough to attract the attention of a overseas benefactor with money to burn?

The answer, in Sheffield United’s view, is to turn the whole system on its head.

Rather than wait for foreign money to come in, the Coca Cola Championship side are investing in other football clubs around the world. United has already bought clubs in China and Hungary and are looking at snapping up clubs in the U.S. and the Middle East.

The idea is to increase business opportunities for the club’s sponsors as well as promote the club’s brand abroad. Investments made now will, the club’s director’s hope, reap sustainable benefits in the future providing dependable revenue streams.

Would you like to see your club follow the example of Sheffield United? Would you be happy for your football team to own others? Or would supporting a club which owns several others make you feel more of a shareholder rather than a fan?

Has the team from a city known for its steel struck gold with what they say is a unique business model?

Football fans, we want to hear your views on how you think your club should be funded. Post your comments below.

It all sounds very good.

But then it did 4 or 5 seasons ago when we started this long term thinking.

I really hope it bares fruit in all the ways we're hoping it will do. It was also nice to hear Deloitte praising us.

I can't help but think if we appointed an investment agency such as Inner Circle to pimp us around the world, money would be forthcoming. So, it makes me wonder how eager we are for an injection of cash... or how close we already are in the process.

Yeah I agree things sound highly positive and I hope they remain that way and things do bear fruit and 1) Develops the Blades firstly and 2) if we can aid in developing smaller clubs around the globe and 3) improve our image around the world then it can only help us in gaining investment and big sponsorships in the future.

Here is hoping

Up The Blades!!
