Twenty years ago since one of my favourite evenings at Bramall Lane. Losing to Coventry after 88 minutes it looked like we were heading out of the cup, until Holdsworth scored from a corner. We held out against a decent Coventry side before winning on penalties in front of the Kop!

What a game!! Mild mannered man in front of me (Doctor from Hallam) absolutely lost the plot after the equaliser. Started f'ing and blinding towards everyone who left early. His two young kids were just staring at him in shock :):):):)

Also Holdsworth is my favourite United player, non-Deane category

How did David Burrows penalty not go in? Kachuro's effort was almost as bad as Simonsen's

Just rolled along the line. I was only a kid at the time but I remember that Taylor effort in extra time like it was yesterday. The one where Ford dinked it over the top, Taylor just couldn’t get his toe on it.

I was on the kop urging our penalties to go in. Until Quinn banged that last one in. Then I was on the pitch!

Was it widely known that Dublin always put his penalties to the right? And, in fact, did he always do that? I remember being so sure that was what he was going to do before he took this one (and he’d gone that way in the first game but Kelly couldn’t get to it).

I have a lovely framed photo of Kelly making the save taken from the Kop, signed by the man himself :) favourite bit of Blades merch.

Amazing night - I remember everyone panicking as soon as Roger Nilsen stepped forward for the penalty, and then him doing a passable Stuart Pearce impression when it went in.

Couple of (good natured) Coventry fans were sat behind us on the South stand, and decided to head off with a couple of minutes remaining with the score 1-0, so as to avoid any bother :)

Hell of a night that was!

Sat at the away end side of John Street for this one.

I loved Katch, but he had an absolute stinker that night. He came on as sub, and just couldn’t seem to do anything right, so it was a surprise to see him step up (fair play to him for not hiding).

After a pretty ordinary 90 minutes where Cov had us at arm's length until Holdsworth's effort, our extra time performance was out of this world. Dellas was like Pirlo in the middle, and we should have won it without penalties.

Thought Dellas was a fantastic player was sorry he didn't play many games for us.

So many great memories in that video, and a couple of things I'd forgotten. Like Moldovan's free header, ha!

I liked that Ogrizovic and Kelly seemed to exchange a little handshake after Kelly's first save, bit of class there. And Kelly came damned close to saving all four penalties! (admittedly Burrows' could have just as easily gone in).

The three penalties we scored were all great strikes. It's slightly odd that Nielson never scored for us. Also am I right in thinking that Kelly only ever saved penalties in shoot-outs, never in a match for us?

One of my all time favourite games that one, Coventry were a very decent side at that time. We wern't bad ourselves we still had Borbokis and Dellas, how much would those two be worth in today's market ?

I remember that game very well as my fiancée was working in the south stand Ladbrokes kiosk.( Student job to earn more money ). She was on her way out of the ground when we equalised and was allowed to join me on the kop for the remainder of the game. I remember going absolutely mental when we won and my wife suddenly realised how much I loved the blades. I left Sheffield 3 months later to get married and lived in Newcastle for 9 years. We celebrate 20 years of marriage in July so very happy memories for me. UTB

If I remember correctly we battered them in extra time, seem to recall Tri Dellas was in inspired form after he came on as a second half substitute.

Great memories of that game, the day before the replay I'd got back from two weeks in Barbados. Had been to the test match there, Ramprekash and Thorpe a century a piece, got chatting to a group of Blades fans outside the ground, one I later found out to be Kevin McCabe. I also remember talking to an arrogant Arsenal fan who told me it would be bad for the FA Cup if Sheffield United and Wolves made it to the semi finals, happily both clubs did.

The day of the Cov game I'd started a new job, then after work, mates who had got me a ticket for the game told me all about the trouble they'd had outside a boozer in Coventry. Three of them had got locked outside the pub when 50 of their lads bounced over, they ended up getting a bit of a hiding which they weren't too happy about. Turned out all right though with the dramatic end to 90 mins and the penalty shoot out. Finished the night off celebrating in the Hermitage on London Road til well after midnight. Great night

This was the second match I'd taken my brother to. The first was the 5th round match v Reading a few weeks earlier.
I think he thought all games ended dramatically! (Reading was a last minute winner in front of the kop)
