Tuesday 2nd March 1993. What a night!

I am hoping someone might be able to help me please? As part of some research I am doing, I wonder if anyone has the match video that I think United released. If so would I be able to borrow it?

I have the season review video but I am looking for something a bit more extensive in terms of coverage.

Also, does anyone have any specific memories of the match and that night that they would be willing to share. Was it a special match for reasons other than the scoreline? Was there an on-pitch moment, off-pitch event or incident that makes it stand out in your memory? If so, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks in advance and Up the Blades!

My car was severely damaged whilst parked up as I was at work.

I think it was the bin wagon that took the front wing off although I couldn't prove it.

I was well peed off with the world and I stopped at Morley Police station on the way to the game to report the damage.

All was right with the world by 10.00pm though :-)

I have the full match on tape at my parents house. PM me.

About 50% of my schoolmates were Spurs fans so I was looking forward to taking the piss. They all grumpily responded that they had a Cup semi final that weekend and were focused on that. Of course, so did we.

A year or so before I'd been at school with Erik Thorsvedt's daughter.

Pedant alert!

It was a quarter final actually - we drew 0-0 at Blackburn the following Saturday.

The goals just flowed, don't recall us playing particularly spectacular in all fairness but we just carved them open.

I went with my daughter, her boyfriend and his father, a Spurs fan and a pompous git of the highest order, to boot. He drove, as our car was in the garage. He expected Spurs to win easily. It was a very quiet journey back to Harrogate, but I was inwardly screaming 'Take that you patronising bastard!'

Think Spurs were resting a few of their first choice players for the FA Cup quarter final match at Man City in the following Sunday. They did win 4-1!

I don't remember this at all. We beat Spurs 6-0???? How the hell do i not remember this happening?

My memory is shocking but ffs. I must have been there. Pretty sure i went to every home game that season.
Don't remember it happening never mind anything about the game. :(

Just looked at the results from that season and i remember hardly any of it except the cup games. I remember everybody thinking Deano would get a hat trick against Hatlepool to make it 3 hat tricks in a row. Probably would have been a record or summat, i dunno. We got absolutely battered by Hatlepool but somehow fluked a 1-0 win.

I don't even remember the home game against the filth. Apparently Adrian Littlejohn scored and it ended 1-1. Don't remember that, or anything about the game. I remember the one at swillsborough for taking the piss out of Chris Waddle. God my memory worries me. Wait just had a flashback...was there snow at the Spurs game? Or did i just imagine that?

I remember Spurs' player Andy Gray (not the Andy Gray, nor the other Andy Gray who took our penalties for a bit, but another Andy Gray) slicing the ball out of play by the John Street terrace and getting the usual "aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh"s from the crowd. But these "aaaaaaaaaaarrrrgggghhh"s went on for about ten minutes, growing louder and louder each time. The entire crowd joined in and the poor bloke's confidence was shot to pieces. Every time the ball went near him, you could see him thinking "oh no, please... not again". 6-0 down and getting utterly humiliated!

It was a cracking night - completely unexpected. And we got chips from Two Steps at Hunter's Bar on the way home.

I'm not sure, it was a pretty strong side as I recall. That said, it was a freak night. The ball seemed to have a mind of its own or, more accurately, the mind of an Arsenal fan.

a pretty glorious night, a new lad joined our school not long before this game and he supported spurs. i couldnt bring myself to ridicule him too much till we became better mates and then i never shut up about it!

I think I remember Spurs were happy to re-arrange our fixture (I think postponed because us and Spurs were playing in FA Cup 5th Round) quickly because it would mean that Neil Ruddock (I think it was him) would serve his suspension before the Man City game

I was 16 and at football training at a frozen pitch (6-7 inches of solid ice with snow on top) as the game kicked off. It was a very cold night in Volda, Norway, and I remember we had metal spikes (normally used for car tyres) shot into the normal studs of the boots in order to stay on our feet.

My dad picked me and some mates up after the training and I told them we were playing Spurs. "Uh-oh" one of them replied, "will be tough, they're in great form." I turned on the car radio and searched up 606 MW. The signal was ok and we were all very surprised to hear that we were 2-0 up already! As I got home I ran inside and although the radio signal now was worse I managed to hear that we were 4-0 up at half time. I listened to the rest and was completely amazed at the 6-0 win!

I was the same age and actually chose not to go. Lesson learned the hard way.

Thanks mate. Will PM you later - Cheers!

I was there. Surreal night indeed. I remember just before half time we were singing "terry what's the score, terry terry what's the score" to Venables who was sat in the stand.

Although we were well on the way to 3 pts it was still special seeing Deano score the 5th.

i also remember Gage cutting through their defence for one of the goals nearly scoring himself before we scored from the rebound.

i could have sworn it was "teddy" what's the score - as sheringham was NOT happy about getting thrashed and made his frustrations clear to fans ref and team mates as i recall.

Two things I remember about the game.
Firstly, nearly mixing Brysons second goal because I went to get a coffee, I came around the corner at the top of the kop just as he hit his shot to score, my coffee went everywhere so after jumping around part in celebration part in pain at the heat I went and got another coffee.
Secondly, Sherringham having a shot (maybe a header) that was bound for the top corner of the net at the kop end tipped around the post by AK and then getting very mardy and booting the ball up to the back of the kop in a proper spit your dummy out moment. I was on front row not far from him and he took quite a bit of stick for it.

I can remember being there, stood on the terrace for some strange reason, must have got a 'freebie' or something, the main thing i remember was what a cracking game Dane Whitehouse had,and thinking we had a real talent, think shortly after he got injured and was never the same...seemed like every time we attacked we scored ah well happy days !

All very interesting except Whitehouse didn;t play :-)

He had broken his leg back in October and made his comeback later in March 93.
